De Babalú Radio Hour y El Desahogo. (updated)
(For our non-Spanish speaking readers desahogo means, roughly, a release. As in a release of frustration or anger.)
As you all already may know, today will be the very first installment of The Babalu Radio Hour featuring our very own Henry El Conductor" Gomez and myself. I've been a little reluctant to actually put on a radio show and have been pressured quite a bit from others for Babalu to finally join the Blog Radio bandwagon. Truth be told, I find the written word a much better medium for me to express myself and I really really hate how I sound when I hear myself on a recorder or video or over the radio. I think I sound a little geeky, in a Cuban macho man kinda way.
But after much prodding, Henry finally convinced me to give it a shot so, I guess tonight's the night.
One thing I want from the Babalu Radio Hour is for it to be Cuban. That is, to show a bit of irreverence, have no subjects be taboo and be able to laugh at ourselves despite the seriousness of what we all blog about and work for. Every once in a while, we have to step out of the arena and be able to enjoy our lives, laugh a little, play a little...you get the picture.
I've strived to do that a Babalu, but sometimes the news and information and events around us make it a bit difficult. So tonight, Im going to try to take things with a grain of salt and hang loose. Im also having a few beers - first one right now as I type this - so I might be either a bit saucy or totally incoherent or saucily incoherent. You'll have to forgive me, but its a little estress rilis.
I hope you all will call in with a question or two, or tell us what a great job we're doing or just call to mention how geekily hammered I sound, in a saucily incoherent kinda way.
I want to call attention to an aspect of the program - already mentioned above - "El Desahogo."
During the last five or ten minutes of the show, we'll be taking calls where you all can desahogarse. That is, you can take out your frustration with all things Cuban. Kinda like this:
Us:Hello caller so and so, welcome to el Desahogo.
You: Hi. Este es el Desahogo?
Us: Si.
You: Me puedo desahogar?
Us: Pues claro que si.
You: ME CAGO EN EL LA MADRE DEL CAGALITROSO FIDEL CASTRO Y SU MARICONSON HERMANITA RAUL Y EN LOS HIJO'E PU......
Us: Gracias por su desahogo.
You: ...TAS COMUNISTAS MARI....
So, let it all hang out. And if curse words are vehemently expressed, cojanlo suave con take it easy.
Eight o'clock tonight, click the picture and listen live.

Update: Seems we are experiencing techincal difficulties. Please bear with us as we kick some ñangara ass.

Val,
I'm sure you and Henry will do just great! God knows there's plenty of material for "el desahogo" or "to vent" ... :)
I wish you well :) Melek
