"Leiva told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that the Spanish government has betrayed the prisoners and all the people repressed since March 2003."

Good for you --- hit 'em hard. They're such disgusting wussies.

Miguel Angel Moratino is a swine who deserves nothing but our contempt.

While I have nothing against Leiva, Chepe and Paya (even though I don't like their soft stance on the regime), I see that the MSM is reluctant to give more voice to Martha Beatriz Roque or other members of the Asembly to Promote the Civil Society, maybe because they are not soft at all and say the things the media don't want to hear.

This may be a bit off the wall, but... I am a bit off the wall. Ever stop and think that Spain may be posturing to be in the psoition to be the so-called redeemer when castro dies and thus attempt to re-possess Cuba?
It is more than odd that they would want to do business with someone who doesn't pay them back on their loans. Or is the profit in Cuba so great that what they earn offsets the eventual hits?

Pototo,

That is indeed an interesting hypothesis. Logic would certainly dictate that business dealings with Cuba always got the same place: nowhere.

Very odd indeed and perhaps you're onto something there.

It's past time for all who truly want Cuba free to face and denounce the painful truth about Spain, instead of waiting and hoping it will eventually do the right thing (which it is utterly obligated to do, even though it doesn't care). The problem is not simply a function of the Zapatero crowd's far left ideology. That merely makes them more openly hypocritical, but Spain has been failing Cuba since Franco (where ideological affinity was definitely not at work).

Spanish businesses started opportunistically exploiting Cuba long before Zapatero. They were certainly doing it under Aznar, and he knew it. There has been Spanish cooperation and by extension complicity with Castro all along. This is not really about political ideology per se; it's more about a historically-based and entrenched mindset of entitlement and colonial paternalism.

Spain still feels it was cheated out Cuba. For centuries, it simply USED Cuba and got totally accustomed to that, as if it was its inherent right to do so. It still feels copmpletely justified in taking advantage of Cuba any way it can, and it's been doing just that. As far as Spain is concerned, Cuba will always be fair game, because Spain DESERVES that.

All relevant pro-freedom Cuban parties should make it VERY clear that Spain neither has nor deserves any special standing, authority or prerogative in anything pertaining to Cuba. Spain is NOT the go-to entity when it comes to policy-making or approach to the Cuban problem. Spain has absolutely no moral authority in that regard, as its track record amply proves. What Spain thinks and wants is its business, but that has no legitimate bearing on what anybody else does, and certainly no bearing on what Cubans do.

Stefania:

On October 10, 2006, The Assembly to Promote Civil Society in Cuba subscribed to a five point agreement with the leading exile organizations. I have the press release from Unidad Cubana. A historical agreement since it's the first of this kind. It got ZERO play by the MSM. Unidad Cubana needs our support. You can go the their site www.launidadcubana.com to get info. I found it best to call them and meet with their leadership personally. I'm working with them to bring our cause to a wider audience.

I think your assumptions are right on the money, after all "TODO LO IMPORTA ES EL CAAA$$$H"

TO ALL THE NATIONS THAT CONTINUE DOING BUSINESS WITH THE REGIME WHILE TURNING THEIR BACKS ON THE PLIGHT OF OUR PEOPLE:

WE WILL NEVER EVER FORGET! NOR WILL OUR CHILDREN, OR OUR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN AND SO ON AND SO ON...

INJUSTICE DOESN'T LAST FOREVER BUT OUR MEMORIES OF IT WILL.

THE JEWS WILL NEVER FORGET THE HOLOCAUST, AND NEITHER WILL WE.
