Desecration at Cementerio de Colon
Inevitably, a government that has no respect for the living also has no respect for the dead.

George has more at the Real Cuba. Brace yourself; the photos are quite disturbing.

This has been going on for years. My family from both mom's and dad's side has (or at least had) burial plots at Colon. It makes me sick.

Not to mention the grave-robbing. My uncle's skull was stolen two years back. Such a beautiful cemetery to be falling into utter disrepair.

El Cementerio de Colon is considered one of the great cementaries of the world for its beautiful statues and masuleums. I see now that its falling apart. Another thing that we have to thank the nefarious Castro brothers for. Where is the world outcry? Opps! What am I talking about? The media is triping over itself always writing stories about how Castro has saved Cuba's patrimony, about how he is restoring Old Havana, it's architectural patrimony which of course "Tyrant" Batista was going to destroy and if it has now fallen apart, it's because of the embargo, not because of "President" CASTRO!
