I saw it this morning; nothing much. Talked about fifo looking "better" and having to cut his beard, a short clip of a Cuban saying that he loves fifo, Alarcon said something too, and then Matt said that tomorrow they were going to talk about the political differences among cuban americans in regards to US policies towards Cuba, and I think he said something about not all Cubans in Cuba loving fifo.

Will tune in tomorrow, I just wish I was more fully awake at the time they do the segment.

Just caught the segment of Today Show viewers (Cuban-American) reading the letters they sent in to Lauer in recent days.

The one that truly shocked me came from a woman - again - a Cuban-American - who parroted the myth that Cuba in the pre-Castro years had no middle class. This was shocking, considering the fact that Cuba had one of the largest middle-class populations in all of Latin America - if not THE largest (not sure on the exact numbers here). Indeed, it's something I've always been proud of as a Cuban - the idea that in Latin American, with all its poverty, etc, Cuba once stood out as an economic success story for most of her citizens. The ignorance in our own community is sometimes just as shocking as that of the international community. Granted, these instances are rather rare, but they do happen.
