I saw these scenes in person two years ago and it broke
my heart. I still recall the cosmopolitan, sophisticated
La Habana circa 1955. Here's to demolition of the regime.

That's the fault of the embargo! The mainstream media and American academia says so, so it must be true! According to the msm and academia, Fidel Castro is a culture president who saved historic Old Havana from demolition by Batista who was going to tear it down and built cheap hotels and casinos for rich Americans. The fact that he has restored a few buildings out of thousands that are on the verge of collapsing or have already collasped is enough for them to marvel at his skillful restoration abilities and to hold him up as an example to the rest of the world that just tears down historic buildings at whim to make a few extra bucks!

Yet Cuba exported concrete this year to Venezuela. Upside down world, man. I just don't get it.

Yes, Henry, but let's not forget Mr. Demolition had LOTS of help, domestic and foreign. He always has had, and he has it still. Nobody, no matter how horrible and evil, can destroy a country all by himself. There have always existed, in all countries, people as bad as Mr. Demolition, but they have only gotten as far as they have been allowed to get. I get REALLY tired of the completely absurd notion that it's all his fault. It isn't, not by a long shot.
