La cosa nostra
We have been collectively accused of belonging to a mafia or, put more simply, an organized crime operation. The charges include influencing politicians to pass legislation favorable to us. In order to put the issue to rest, to the following charges:
Conspiring in an organized an systematic matter to obtain freedom for Cuba.Of swearing an allegiance to each other to do the same.
Of using every facet of the American system, including our right to vote and lobby, to our advantage in the furtherance of the above stated mission.
Of being forceful in our communicating our opinions and discrediting our enemies.
Of engaging in a true "war of ideas" with the castro regime in Cuba.
Of possessing and using weapons such as intellect, reason, experience and political clout to carry out said war.
Of amassing great wealth among the capos, lieutenants and soldiers of our small family.
We plead guilty.
We have no problem saying that we're part of that kind of Mafia. If you use the term in another context, for example as a sign of disrespect, or contempt, we won't say that you'll be sleeping with the fishes but you do run the risk of being exposed for the bugiardo that you are.
Cuba's freedom is truly our thing.

Henry,
I fully agree with your comments about the Miami Mafia.
I am suspicious of labels whether they are Miami Mafia, Liberal Media or Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
Its too easy to not think about issues and to just throw a demeaning label at someone with whom we disagree.
Not a damn thing is going to get resolved in this country if its labeled and dismissed.
I am not Cuban, not a Conservative Republican but despise Castro and wish for a free Cuba.
I do not agree with much of what is said here on domestic US politics.
But on Cuba, you guys are the experts.
Some issues I sound conservative, some downrigh liberal.
And I don't give a damn about what label someone else wants to put on that.
Blanket labeling of any group lowers the freedonm of speech we have here and that doesn't exist in Cuba.
Whether on the receiving or the sending side of those labels.
