Me too. It was on hell of a storm.

Actually, Gusano, I was hammered. Lived across the hall forom a guy that had just moved in from California and we basically drank a whole bottle of Cuervo and stood in the cubby hole of our apartment building video taping the storm.

The worse part about it was standing in line for ice in the afternoon sun with Tequila oozing out of my pores.

Wilma was worse than people give it credit for. It did as much damage to my house as Andrew. Even though I was miles and miles away from Andrew's center, the storm still knocked us all on our ass.

Funny, I just realized I never wrote an essay about Andrew. Maybe I'll attack that project someday.

I lived in North Miami, by Barry University, during Andrew and we still felt hurricane force winds. We were about 45-50 miles from the center of the storm and we were without power and water for 3 weeks. We had a friend buy us food at a Publix in Broward. My grandparents lived in Perrine and we went a day or two after the Andrew. If you did not know where a loved one lived, forget about finding their house. It looked as if a bomb was dropped in that area. As we drove to their house on the Turnpike, 95% of all the homes along the Turnpike, a mile before exiting Quail Roost Dr, where destroyed. The devastation was incredible !! Wilma did much more damage in our neighborhood than what Andrew did. We were without power and water for the same amount time. You really learn to appreciate and not take for granted watching TV, taking a nice warm shower, listening to the radio, etc.

I lived in MIA back then near Kendel. My house was about 85% damaged! Now I deal with tornados up here that come out of no where!!! I almost prefer hurricanes!!!

Hopefully fifteen years from now we can all say I remeber what we did that day...drink like hell for the devil's son was sent back to hell!!!!

Andrew is the reason why we now live in a MANDATORY EVACUATION ZONE. I refuse to go through the trauma of getting hit by a freight train again. When the windows started to explode and roof ripped apart, we though we were going to die.
Now I watch them come off the coast of Africa and start to make reservations. California, New York, Colorado, whatever. One time I just approached the ticket counter and said "I would like four tickets to wherever you're flying now".

I, too, lived through Hurricane Andrew, but I lived in Baton Rouge, LA, at the time. Stephanie
