I love Ann Coulter
Ann Coulter is my kind of conservative: erudite, principled, intelligent, acid-tongued, and absolutely fearless when it comes to (correctly, every time) characterizing and attacking the Democrats. In her latest piece she writes about the Democrat orgasm about Attorney General Gonzales's resignation. Notice, though, that unlike the Dems with one of theirs, she was very critical of him and policies. She's not giving the Dems a moment's peace about their hypocrisy, though:
Let's compare attorneys general:-- Civilians killed by Ashcroft: 0
-- Civilians killed by Gonzales: 0
-- Civilians killed by Reno: 80
And this gem:
I believe Reno also falsely accused the Miami relatives of Elian Gonzalez of violating the law, which I am not including in her record of false accusations, but reminds me of another comparison.-- Number of 6-year-old boys deported to totalitarian dictatorships by Ashcroft: 0
-- Number of 6-year-old boys deported to totalitarian dictatorships by Gonzales: 0
-- Number of 6-year-old boys deported to totalitarian dictatorships by Reno: 1
Read the whole thing.

-- Number of times "forgetting" things by Ashcroft: 0
-- Number of times "forgetting" things by Gonzales: 1,000,000
-- Number of times "forgetting" things by Reno: 0
Oh, I've got another (this is fun!!)
-- Number of Constitutional Rights violated by Ashcroft: 1 (warrantless wiretapping)
-- Number of Constitutional Rights violated by Gonzales: 2 (suspension of habeus corpus and warrantless wiretapping)
-- Number of Constitutional Rights violated by Reno: 0

CanesFan, you're an imbecile. The piece was not defending Gonzales; it was commenting on Democrat hypocrisy and hysteria. Thank you for providing an example for us.

CanesFan, you are the same people that ask why the gov't didn't do anything after a terrorist attack...

I did not have sexual relations with that woman. Ms. Lewisnki!
Sandy, are those incriminating documents in your pants, or are you just happy to see us?

CanesFan,
I guess those 80 dead people didn't have a constitutional right to life?

Touting the horrible things that Gonzalez didn't do is as much defending him as pointing out the hypocrisy in the Democratic party. But I guess it would be pointless to note that there is hypocrisy in BOTH parties. I know that's taboo here since the GOP is apparently always right.
And George, before you go and say that I missed the point of the piece, understand first that pointing out hypocrisy in others when you yourself are a hypocrit is asinine

How's that 14% Democratic let's clean up the system congress doing?

CanesFan, when you criticize your own, in the same fashion that I criticize the GOP ad nauseum, then you call me a hypocrite. I know the GOP needs an enema. A big one. I have written several pieces about my disenchantment with the GOP losing its conservative soul. The problem is you are willing to overlook your party's faults, and stay silent about it, as long as the GOP looks bad. That's hypocrisy, buddy.
BTW, you sound more like 'Nole than a 'Cane...

Quote: there is hypocrisy in BOTH parties.
You're right, I don't speak of problems in the democratic party, or the republican. Oh, and hate to burst your bubble here, but I'm registered republican and don't really tow the party line with either party.... I guess I'm more of an independent since I like to think for myself since I have yet to find a party or politician I agree with 100% of the the time (or anything close to it).
That's ignorance and asusmption buddy.

"BTW, you sound more like 'Nole than a 'Cane..."
What the f**k is that supposed to mean? There are many, many card-carrying Republican 'Noles fans, including this class of '90 alumnus. So shove it up your intransigent *&%, George!
Talking about constitutional rights and AG's, I seem to remember the Clinton administration wasn't too fond of Habeas Corpus. But really, all the opposition to the Patriot Act, Al Gonzales, etc.. stems, I believe, from Bush Derangement Syndrome. If a Democrat were president, the party would be lining up to wiretap, etc.. with nary a criticism.

Too bad Ann Coulter usually opens her mouth big enough to embarrass conservatives. She should stick to making solid analyses like these instead of calling John Edwards a faggot, for example.
And George...as a graduate of The Florida State University, I won't hold your reply to Canes Fan against you! ;)

-- Number of Constitutional Rights violated by Ashcroft: 1 (warrantless wiretapping)
Wrong. Perfectly legal under FISA. Also, spies and enemy combatants don't have constitutional rights.
-- Number of Constitutional Rights violated by Gonzales: 2 (suspension of habeus corpus and warrantless wiretapping)

I suppose, but only if you don't count Waco and Elian.

I guess I'm more of an independent since I like to think for myself...
As opposed to the rest of us, who don't like to think for ourselves. Reminds me of the atheists and agnostics who call themselves free-thinkers but believe that no true free-thinker is free to believe in God.
...since I have yet to find a party or politician I agree with 100% of the the time (or anything close to it).
Sounds like you must be under 40 because those of us on the over side figured out long ago that we never will find such a party. If you really think about it, you'll discover that you don't even agree with yourself 100% of the time, so how could you ever expect an entire political party comprised of thousands of operatives and millions of registered voters to get remotely close?
(Also, since you can't find a party or even an individual politician who agrees with you "anything close to (100%)", doesn't this mean you can't ever vote?)
None of us here thinks "the GOP is always right". Only that they are right more often than the other guys, which admittedly isn't saying much these days. The mature way to decide on a party is to choose the one that disappoints you the least and do what you can to improve/reform them from a grassroots level. Otherwise you just end up politically neutered and barricaded in an ivory tower where the only voice you can hear is your own.

Robert, of all the writers here on Babalu, which one reminds you most of Ann Coulter in his total disdain for the politically correct?
Zhangliqun, brilliant! I couldn't have expressed it any better:
The mature way to decide on a party is to choose the one that disappoints you the least and do what you can to improve/reform them from a grassroots level. Otherwise you just end up politically neutered and barricaded in an ivory tower where the only voice you can hear is your own.
That is my philosophy to a tee.

Let's not forget Janet Reno's support of a law that would have severely curtailed free speech on the internet. It was struck down, thank God, by the Supreme Court. Janet Reno was awful.
