The above picture was taken at yesterday's Gathering of Eagles counterprotest against the ANSWER commie crowd. Michelle Malkin live blogged the event with more on it here.

It was disgusting to see how the media was only interviewing the anti-american crowd. Of course, there was that ...itch (and I don't mean W) cindy sheehan at the head of the protesters and spewing her anti-usa b.s. When are they going to charge her with treason? I would love to see these cowards try to have an anti-USA rally on S.W. 8th Street near Versailles, I would give them less than a minute before they'd be stopped by real freedom loving people.

I was there protesting the war, just like back in the 1970s. How come no one mentioned me? That's not fair! I will just have to write about it in my column in the Herald.

I bought a Che-shirt, and added a message: "SI SOS HINCHA DE CHE, SOS HINCHA DE PELOTUDO SIN CEREBRO."

Translated from Argentine slang and grammar (many native Spanish speakers not from Argentina might not understand): If you are a fan of Che, you are a fan of a brain-dead idiot. (polite translation)

I once attended the showing of a Che-film hosted by the film's creator, an Argentine living in the US. Beautiful music and cinematography, if a repellant subject. Towards the end of the film, a Bolivian stated that Che's human rights were violated by his being shot.

In a discussion after the film, some brought up the point that insofar that Che was involved in the show trials of the Cuban Air Force, it was absurd to claim that a human-rights violator had his human rights violated. (When the number of those executed after the war for "war crimes" is NOT a small percentage of those who lost their lives in the war, that just might raise a "red flag.") The Argentine filmmaker replied that those executed had been subjected to trials done in a proper manner. The discussion went on.

I added my two cents to the discussion. Regarding the appropriateness of an Argentine bringing Enlightenment and Revolution to Bolivia, consider the following Bolivian joke.

At the end of every mass, a young Bolivian priest concluded mass by saying, "And may God give the Argentines the punishment they deserve." Eventually word of this got back to the Bishop, who had a talk with the young priest. "The Argentines, like the Bolivians, are children of God. Stop it." The young priest stopped bad-mouthing the Argentines.

The year rolled on, and Easter approached. The young priest related the story of the last supper to his congregation. Jesus said to the apostles, "One of you will betray me." Peter said, "Master (maestro), it is I (who will betray you)." Jesus replied, "No, Peter, it is not you who will betray me." Simon said, "Master (maestro), it is I (who will betray you)." Jesus replied, "No, Simon, it is not you who will betray me." This went on, until Judas spoke, in an accent muy cantante ( muy Argentino). "Che, Maestro, soy ZHO." ( It is I (who will betray you)- in a distinctly Argentine accent.)

After I related this joke, the audience broke out in laughter, recognizing the joke's linking Judas with Argentina. The Argentine filmmaker replied, "Let's change the subject."

Unfortunately, these idiots caused a rally for a much more worthy cause to be overlooked this weekend. Over 5,000 Taiwanese-Americans rallied in front of the U.N. in New York City to demonstrate the dedicaion that the U.N. should accept Taiwan. On the same day, 300,000-500,000 rallied for the same in Taiwan. The PRC continues to veto Taiwan's admittance, as it condemns Taiwan independence. Taiwan plans to reapply for full U.N. membership when the world body convenes tomorrow.

We should all support Taiwan's quest for independence from the Communist nation of China, as we too hope for the independence of our own island.
