Have you noticed....

...how in some circles everyone from anywhere in the world is entitled to their opinions in this great nation except for Cuban-Americans?

I suppose these folks would appreciate it we stayed out of the political process altogether, too.

Here's a memo to those that are oh so tired of dealing with us intransigent, controlling Cuban-Americans here in Miami: Go to the polls, dudes. Vote. Rally your fellow bigots and vote whoever you think is better into office. While you're at it, if you have an issue with "your own politicians" pandering to us lowly Cuban-Americans, don't vote for them.

It's quite simple, really. If fidel castro was not able to take our opinions from us, we certainly ain't gonna let a bunch of envious, frustrated, backward little pricks do the same, and no amount of bitching and moaning, libel, slander or outright falsehoods that you use to discredit us will ever prevent us from voicing said opinions and doing what we know to be right. So, if you don't like us Miami Cubans, there's always Colorado. Or Utah. Or California. Or Massachusetts. Or a slew of other states with like-unminded individuals.

Capisce?

Don't send them to California! We have lots of Cuban Americans in California, from Glendale, Downy, Huntington Park, and all throughout Los Angeles and Riverside County.

Ah, the old "If you don't like it go somewhere else" assertion. Certainly the heighth of intellectual debate...unless, of course, communists on the island were to say it to you. Sure, you've gone somewhere else, but are you TRULY happy?

Che Day,

Im ecstatic. You?

I'm great, thank you, because I left South Florida a few months ago. You didn't respond to the main point, however...

Posted by: Che_Day [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 18, 2007 10:51 AM

I did notice a change in the air!

Che Day,

Must I respond to that stupidity? OK, Ill bite. The answer to your "question" is no, you dont have to leave if you dont want to. You can stay here as long as you want and complete the process of making a thorough and intolerable fool of yourself.

1-I asked you to adress my "point", not a "question", so you can lose the sarcastic quotation marks.

2-I personally view people who veil personal attacks by calling ideas instead of people "stupid" in pretty low regard. I read both you and Stuck on the Palmetto, but here I have to agree both the editors and commenters on your site employ name-calling way too often.

3-You STILL didn't address my original point. Nowhere did I say that people HAVE to leave. Obviously, short of you showing up with a mob, people don't have to do anything. My point was that the whole "If you don't like it leave" comment is usually used by those who would like to stifle debate. Honestly, does anyone like everything about where they live?! Doesn't everyone have a right to debate openly about what they like or dislike?! Isn't that America?!

The point remains that I have never seen anyone use that logic execpt to end debate in a self-righteous tone.

Che day,

I didnt address your original "point" because if you read your comment, there really wasnt any.

Ah, the old "If you don't like it go somewhere else" assertion. Certainly the heighth of intellectual debate...unless, of course, communists on the island were to say it to you. Sure, you've gone somewhere else, but are you TRULY happy?

You begin your very first comment here with sarcasm. Certainly, you dont expect me to treat you with any more respect than that which youve shown me, do you? Compound that withthe fact that you have chosen to come here to this blog using a nick "Che day", knowing full well what an insult that is to any anti-castro Cuban. if you expect to be treated with respect, che day, you better show some first, my man, otherwise you reap what you sow.

As for your comment "If you don't like it go somewhere else", I believe the post is very clear. Nowhere do I say you must leave Miami, just that if you chose to remain, you will have to deal with us nasty Miami Cubans. And nowhere does the post state that you must not voice your own opinions if they are contrary to mine. Your comment, my friend, is what we call a strawman.

As for your question if am I truly happy, I believe I answered you quite succinctly thus:

"Im ecstatic."

Is there anything else, or am I to waste more of my time, and yours, answering strawmen arguments laced with innuendo and sarcasm?

No vengas a bailar en al casa del trompo, asere.

You may not like my point, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one.

No, nothing else. You've shown yourself to be exactly what your cronies come here to read. If you don't like the name, ban me. I know you're into that sort of thing.

Oh wait, I lied...

Perhaps people would take you "anti-castro" Cubans a bit more seriously if you kept things in perspective. Over the years I can't count how many times I've heard Che or Fidel (admittedly detestable human beings) equated with Hitler. While killing any number of people is wrong, killing people for a misguided political vision and a genocide are two VERY different things. But I suppose that's just a strawman too...
