A scenario
Once again, with the UN convening this month in NYC, coupled with a Democrat led Congress, mixed in with the castro cadaver and the MSM's aiding and abetting of the Cuban regime, we are seeing the "lift the embargo" thing get the full court press.
So, I figure why not take a trip to lala land and this fine Wednesday morning. Let's do a little make believe. A hypothetical:
The US Government suddenly announces, right now, that it has lifted all sanctions and the embargo against the Cuban government.
What happens next?

The reanimated body of Frankencastro rises from the cold steel gurney he's been on for months in the morgue, a white shroud covering his body except for one bony hand that suddenly moves and gives a thumbs up to the morgue staff.
After that, raul will take a flight to sign the papers at the IMF so he can get (steal) another two or three billion dollars from the world.
And the Cuban people, you ask, what about them? Status quo. Vulture croquettes and resolviendo.

My initial inclination is to say that if that were to happen today, then the 'stock value' of the regime mafiosis's portfolios in Cuba holdings has quintupled. But, on further reflection, I'm not so sure that any sane 'investor' would be ready to invest 'their' money (maybe 'other's') in anything having to do with the Cuban mafia there, as their past/current way of doing things is somewhat even less honorable and trustworthy than our very own dear american mafiosis.
So, outside of the immediate travel bookings, sending more dollars to the families, and some additional grain/cattle deals, I'm not sure it would have that much of an impact.

Let's see: The castro monarchy gets richer, the Cuban people get more oppressed and US companies make millions of dollars.
But hey, that's okay because raul's third cousin's wife's sister's grandson, who is 37th in line for the throne of Cuba, says that when he gets into power he will initiate democratic reforms. At least that's what they think he said; it was hard to understand him since he was busy woofing down some microwave popcorn a Nebraska senator had brought him as a gift.

WOW! What a question that in itself needs to be addressed one day. I guess everyone would drink their bottle of Chan-pang with a little dancing in the streets!
I asume there will be some committee that would be set up to pay a % of $$ to the former owners who claim their land. There has to be por que var ver war!
I predict that many americans will be arrested but after they pay a large amount of bail (I mean ransome)they would be allowed to return to the US. They would use that as a machanism to raise cash.
They would fund a weapons program like China does with our trade and buy arms from Russia like Hugo does with our oil dependency.
I am curious to hear what the others have to say...

Cuban Cigars come back on the market to the applause of Cigar Aficionado Magazine, for which the US importers pay cash. Cuba "procures" assorted stuff from us for which they give I.O.U.'s guaranteed by the US Taxpayer under trade programs. The regime stays in place a little longer. The Cuban Government slow pays or no pays on the I.O.U.'s. The US Taxpayer "Eats It."
Let's do it this way - Lift "El Bloqueo" on a "Cash and Carry" basis - oh, silly me except for the CIGARS we've already DONE THAT! -S-

Cuba institutes a 2-tier tourist system, one (Class Z tourist) for Americans with Cuban ancestry and one (Class A tourist) for the rest of the world (which includes non-Cuban Americans). Class Z tourist would be strictly regulated and watch by security forces to avoid causing "problems" for the regime and not given access to the apartheided tourist areas of Cuba and by limiting their length of stay in Cuba. The American public would applaud this as would ensure continued access to the sex tourism (human trafficking/exploitation) business and discontinuation of the "unfair" restrictions on their travel. Class Z (all of us) would be considered trouble makers for stirring up discontent with the people.

A variety of Leftists poised to take advantage of the new situation have the clout to get embarrassing records purged on both sides of the Florida Straits. Regime members cancel their exile plans. Things for the average Cuban on the street....won't change.
