Newt Gingrich has decided not to run in '08. Damn.

George,

Newt had his time in the glory in the 90s. I think he realizes as much as anyone that it's time for others in the GOP to take over the reigns and lead the party to where it should be.

Honestly, I don't think he had a chance to beat the Democratic candidate, much less a chance to win the Republican nomination. Way too polarizing of a figure.

So did Hillary. What's your point?

Hillary is only a polarizing figure for convervatives -- for the democrats, she's the second coming.

But -- I think Newt is right; he's ingenious when it comes to formulating policy and ideology. Like Karl Rove, he will probably do more good behind the scenes than on stage. And it seems to me that he probably started out too late trying to get exposure.

But he's not going anywhere to rest and relax, I think he will be actively campaigning to get conservatives elected at local leves, which is the most important thing.

I think he would make a great Sec of State or Ambassodor to the UN!

Too bad. He was my pick. Now I'll stop looking at the political debates among candidates.

Gingrich is polarizing for many conservatives, and I believe more so overall than Hillary. As Gigi noted, most Dems love Hillary, mostly because she's an extension of their savior William J. Clinton.

Hillary vs Gingrich = no chance for the GOP.

That's my two cents.

Newt was my choice for 08 - he's smart and I like the way he speaks...
