"Waiting for Snow in Havana" Speaking Engagements

“Ten piedad de mí, Señor, cubano soy”.
For those of you in the New York and Miami metro areas, Professor Carlos Eire, author of "Waiting for Snow in Havana," will be celebrating the release of a new Spanish translation at two speaking engagements in New York City and Miami, Florida.
Friday, October 6th at 6 p.m., Professor Eire will appear at Columbia University's Casa Hispánica
612 West 116th Street, between Broadway and Riverside
AND
Saturday, November 10th at 2:30 p.m., Professor Eire will appear at the 24th Miami International Book Fair
Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus, Room 3208-09

Congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Eire on the launch of the Spanish translation.
I don't suppose he ever heard from the ombudsman of the Washington Post regarding the infamous Oliphant cartoon, though perhaps he may have gotten a meaningless form letter. I also suppose he didn't hear from Oliphant himself after writing him and sending him a copy of his book. It figures.

I'm presently reading the book again, this time in Spanish. It's just as enjoyable and beautifully translated. Patria y vida, volveremos.
