Where's the beef?

This hard-hitting and in-depth Reuters article takes a critical and unbiased look at just how hard life is for the common Cuban struggling to obtain the most basic necessities such as food.

Okay, I was kidding. The only thing hit hard by this article is the truth, which Reuters has a hard time reporting without offering some propaganda to temper it. Witness how they can write a sentence like this:

“Inhabitants of Cienfuegos, 160 miles southwest of Havana, were startled last month to receive half a pound (227 grams) of beef per person in their monthly ration for the first time since Cuba's post-Soviet crisis began in 1991.”
That is 8 ounces--a baby churrasco steak at El Novillo restaurant.

That sounds so horrible, so naturally, they follow it up with this:

“We were so happy, because it showed we are recovering from the big crisis,” said teacher Yairma Perez. Beef rations have long been restricted to children, the elderly and ill people.

I can save the Reuters reporters a lot of time and effort by telling them exactly where the beef is. It is in raul’s refrigerator; carlos lage’s refrigerator; felipe perez roque’s refrigerator; and here is a list with the rest of the communist Cuban oligarchy. They will find plenty of beef in those refrigerators also.

The last time any of these oligarchs saw 8 ounces of meat was when they had a filet mignon with their lobster tail dinner. Otherwise, they usually go for a 12 oz. or 16 oz. cut of beef.

The rest of Cuba? F’ em.

I hate the way they write "receive 227 grams of beef per person in their monthly ration," as if the items on the ration card were GIVEN, when all that means is that the items on the ration cards is what they're allowed to buy.

You got it, babe. Fuck 'em. They're just Caribbean third-world types who don't really deserve, or even need, any better. As long as they serve their purpose in terms of the agenda of the left, there's no true problem. If there's no meat, let them eat cake.
