Although this has been going on for some time, the important thing we all have to note (and I'm sorry if you guys at Babalú have been doing it... if you have, I've mostly missed it) is the CHANGE IN TACTICS from the regime.

With only a few exceptions, the days of decades-long sentences for minor "offenses" against the revolution are over. The regime has adapted to our letter-writing campaigns and media blasts by only detaining people until word gets to people oversees... at which point we they release their detainees/political arrestees and we are left flailing our arms for the freedom of people who were released hours before.

Because of these catch-and-release tactics, we all (not just bloggers and reporters, but the Cuban exile community and friends of the cause in general) need to rethink the way we approach this, because if the regime adapts and we keep coming at it with the same responses, the battle is lost before it's even been fought.

Your point is well taken. I've noted the change. But how to approach it is the question. I'm afraid that if we don't shine a light on them, the detentions might get considerably longer.
