Join us for the unveiling of “CAMBIO,” by Carlos A. Navarro, a painting created to express solidarity with Cuban youths that are being harassed and detained by the Castro regime for the mere act of wearing a bracelet inscribed with the word “CAMBIO” (Change). A limited number of posters of the painting will be sold with proceeds going to aid dissidents in Cuba.

During the last week of October 2007, dozens of Cuban youths took to the streets of Havana for a peaceful march in which they asked for an end to repression, freedom for the Cuban people, denounced the countries election farce and called for an end to the island's system of apartheid. Each student wore a white rubber bracelet with one word inscribed on it: "CAMBIO" (Change). Seventy students were subsequently detained, arrested, harassed and, in some cases, physically harmed.

The totalitarian Castro regime's repressive tactics and treatment of the youths seeking CAMBIO served as inspiration for the painting, which will be unveiled as part of BUCL.org’s campaign for 'CAMBIO en Cuba' through which the organization is commemorating International Human Rights Day on December 10th, 2007.
