Go figure
This morning I had a half-baked idea to do a satirical post about Hillary Clinton rigging the New Hampshire primary. I figured it might get some traction on other blogs because all the polls seemed to indicate that Obama was going to win comfortably. But surprise, surprise. Hillary won.
Well it seems that conspiracy theories are actually flying all over the net. I read one post from a 9/11 truther. Amazing that he would believe in a conspiracy, no?

A lot of the old polling formulas don't work anymore, IMHO. People screen their calls and use cell phones nowadays. Bias has infected the highest ranks of the media, leading to wishful thinking being added to polling. People are living at greater distances from their workplaces, leading to the time of day for a given poll being very, very important.
I think the pollsters missed 2004 in part because of the distance likely GOP voters live from their houses making it impractical to use the lunch hour for a vote. The GOP vote didn't come in until the end of the workday, after pollsters had packed it in for the day.
9-11 changed everything. Ethnicity is not as good a predictor of ones likely vote anymore. People of all ages, races, sexes, and walks of life became united behind either the determination to win, or the fear of what it would take to win.

Considering NH loose residency laws if any of us was in NH on primary day we could have voted. Maybe she did load some buses up in NY and got to NH just in time. It just takes some unions or other clinton interest groups to get a few thousand people together. Its probable but rather unlikely. Just food for thought.
