With rue my heart is laden...

This is an absolute must read.

To me, the only truly worthy candidate for President remains Fred Thompson.

Fear not,

Mighty Mouse is on his way!!!!

I just heard Ralph Nader has an exploratory committee and will announce if he'll run AGAIN in a few days. He wants to take up the mantle of the anti-corporate candidate. This gets weirder every day!

Great article, great candidate, silly South Carolina voters who got bamboozled by Huckabee.

Ditto for me. He was always the best candidate, the most serious about the job. Next to him everyone else is a buffoon.

"The Cleveland Adviser, a nonpartisan paper, asked: "When was there ever before such a spectacle as a candidate for the Presidency, traversing the country advocating his own claims for that high and responsible station? Never!"

"The precedent thus set by Harrison," concluded the Adviser's editorialist, "appears to us a bad one." "
Boy, how times have changed.

I hope Thompson does not endorse McCain and runs again in four years.

Hey! Here is an idea: why not have your people contact Thompson's people and do lunch at the Derby to see if you guys can bring him down to Miami for some cafe con leche y queso crema at Versailles while doing a live webcast Q&A.

I can see it now: Fred taking questions from Moneo ("who do you want to nuke first: Mecca or San Francisco?") and Gomez ("have you ever thought about being a Godfather to my daughters? Ann Coulter already agreed but I like you way better") and Ziva ("let me tell you all about all of the stuff I don't know about Cuba") and albertodelabelacruz ("Wait, I have to wait for Val to tell me what to think to ask you before I can open my mouth further").

It should be a classic moment that would make Michelle "I-still-won't-webcast-on-your-blog" Malkin proud!

I'm sorry but I'm glad that Thompson is going back to Law & Order.

His folksy cameo appearances always provide a nice foil to Sam Neill's harsh New England veneer.
