Landslide

Obama and McCain.jpg

If we put up McCain, who is currently 71 years old and who has spent the better part of 3 decades in Washington, against Barack Obama, who is 46 years old, should he win the Democrat nomination you can bet your sweet bippy that it's going to be U-G-L-Y in November. And it's not just McCain's age. You can call him a maverick if you like but McCain is not a good public speaker and an even worse debater.

I have been saying for months that when the tricky Clintons take the party nomination from Obama, new black and young voters now energized by Obama will not turn out on election day.

Henry,

If elect ability is your criteria, then McCain only polls about 15 points better than Romney.

What I am going to say may not be popular or "PC", but I think the dems are trying to "force" the country into electing a minority for president, and I don't think it is going to happen. There ARE people, conservative (traditional old south) democrats who just will not vote for a woman or a black. I know I haven't been in the States in over two years, but I don't think the landscape changed that much. I just do not see it happening.

"There ARE people, conservative (traditional old south) democrats who just will not vote for a woman or a black."

Fortunately, that demographic is in decline. The electorate will support an african-american or a woman if they feel they're qualified.

Electability is not my criteria. I'm asking you to imagine these to candidates standing next to each other at the debate podium.

Rudy Giuliani was the electable one. Where is he now? Not so electable after all. Don't put to much into those polls 10 months out from a general election.

JSB,
May be the case. Remember, that "Southern Democrat" region I refer to saw David Duke get elected. I would like to think the electorate has "matured" and reached a point where it can judge the candidate based on views and positions and not gender or race, but I am not convinced. I am sure the election will confirm whether this has happened or not.

You give the Dems too much credit and the public too little credit. The indies and MOR crowd will not go for O/Hillary who will take the dem nomination by hook or crook. The dems will fare no better than John Kerry did.

Seriously, have you seen Mitt Romney's "Who Let the Dog's Out" video? The only thing worse than an old white guy up against a hip young black guy is to have said person of African-American descent face off against the dorkiest, squarest white person on this planet.

Let me put it to you this way, I don't like Romney, never did...but even I had to shield my eyes, lower the volume and mutter "Please God no...please don't say that."

oh yeah...and when he points at a small black child and notices his...and I quote..."bling, bling" you just want to cry. I've got no great love for McCain, but this irrational devotion to Romney is bizarre. He wasn't a conservative until he got out of office, that is not very convincing. I'd rather have a guy who is honest about when is going to screw me as opposed to a guy who is going to screw me at any given moment without notice.

Don't worry folks, I'll be right here to tell you "I told you so" right through November and beyond.

Have fun.

we're getting crushed no matter what...we're pissing on each other for no reason.
