All the more reason...
I spent a good part of my day yesterday on various blogs and websites, commenting and discussing the importance of the Cuban flag/che guevara image displayed at a US Presidential Campaign office. Many folks claimed it a minor offense, brought about by the unlearned or the naive. "Juvenilia" some folks referred to it.
But, as much as it pained me and much to our chagrin, we have now learned that the campaign office captain responsible for the prominet display of che guevara is of Cuban descent. In all honesty, the unbridled hypocrisy of this woman angers me to no end. How someone from that island that che guevara was instrumental in completely destroying could actually live in this country while adulating that man is beyond the pale.
But, this woman being Cuban just proves what a commenter stated here and what I spent the day arguing about yesterday: That che image Cuban flag wasnt there as decoration. It wasnt there out of naivetee. It wasnt there as an expression of cool chic.
There can be no bones about it: that was an ideological and political message. And a pretty clear one at that, for those who know the true nature of che guevara and his philosophy.

I'm confused. Not that it makes any difference in this case, but for my own curiosity: what is the difference between being a volunteer, a precint captain or an official campaign staffer?
I told you this bitch was Hispanic. Sad to see that she is one of those "commie Cubans" that so many people say don't exist in the US.
The truly sad part, this might just help him win TX since so many other Hispanics think che is a hero.

I'm sick and tired of these pro Che communist. It is impossible to be so niave. I've always known that the Cuban communist sleeps with in our community. This has been proven in front of my own eyes. From my own family experiences, the Cubans that make it to this country at our present time are sleeper cell communist. I know what your thinking, "this guys crazy". Well I'm not. What we need to understand is the simple fact that most Cubans born in Cuba post 1959 have been brain washed into the system. I have cousins who have recently arrived and in conversation they refuse to mention anything bad or wrong about the Revolution be it the system or Castro brothers or Che. Even when I point out the facts it is as if the information can't be absorbed. Honestly I believe the college student who questioned the gov't is all for show. Honestly, I believe most of the Cuban citizens have lost or never had a free conscious. It sad, but I believe the Cuban gov't has such control it doesn't matter if the Castro brothers are around or not, the situation will be status quo. For there to be real change in Cuba it must be with blood shed of the Cuban people who seek freedom and with the blood shed of slave owners. Freedom doesn't come cheap, it never has and never will. Unfortunately, we as Cuban Americans and the few cubans who desire freedom in Cuba have a very long road ahead of us.

I think something is being missed here. You would never in a million years see something like this happening in a Republican campaign office. On the other hand, there's nothing all that surprising about seeing this in a Democrat HQ.

Val,
You're so right!!
As I stated in a earlier post, the context in this instance eliminates any possibility of ignorance on this woman's part.
"That che image Cuban flag wasnt there as decoration."
As they say a picture is worth a thousand words! The Cuban flag with Che displayed in her office, along with the official Obama signs and her picture with Obama (on her desk) were clearly deliberate. They convey the intended message of "progress made" in achieving her goal as an exile operative on behalf of communist Cuba. No doubt about it!!!
I wish you well :) Melek
"Of all forms of government and society, those of free men and women are in many respects the most brittle. They give the fullest freedom for activities of private persons and groups who often identify their own interests, essentially selfish, with the general welfare." ~ D. Thompson

Val, I saw your comments at Outside the Beltway. They were more like fine essays. Sadly, the brainwashed won't learn. Fighting communism has gone out of style. It will take the steadfast persistence I see here at Babalu to bring it back. I hope it isn't too late.

Why hasn't this woman's full name been released? They only identify her as Maria Isabel. She looks like an aging veteran of the defunct Antonio Maceo Brigade. Can anyone find out her name?

You remember what "fidel's" ghostwriter wrote in Granma, that either Obama or Hillary would be the perfect president?
Don't you see they have plants campaigning for them from the regime? Estos hijo/as de putas are trying to be the catalysts to the demise of "Yanqui Imperialismo". Si sale un DemoRata, me mudo para Australia.

There are thousands of Cubans -that work for the Cuban Government’s DGI- living in the United States. These Cubans have been planted within the exile community and have become Cuban-Americans because that’s the only way they can VOTE, run for office, become “educators” or place themselves in a position of power. Carlos Alvarez, a Cuban spy for nearly 30 years, and his wife Elsa Alvarez, both former FIU academics, are a perfect example. Mr. Alvarez, by the way, also conducted the psychological screening of police cadets for the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County police departments.

Le ronca los cojones. There is a Cuban restaurant here with a neon Che displayed above some stairs leading to a bar. The owner is Cuban from Cuba and is of the enterprising sort - she has two thriving Cuban restaurants. She told me she knows all the bad about Che but sees him differently. I told her I'd never go back and she couldn't care less.

The Cuban regime wants to be sure that when fidel dies, or when it can no longer be hidden he is dead (pick your theory), that whoever is in the executive branch is someone beholden to the regime. If, as I think, certain protections on the Cuban regime expire with fidel, who will be likely to pull the trigger----Hillary/Obama, or McCain?
SECOND LOOK AT MCCAIN!

Well, Steve from HoustonforObama is saying what Obama needs to come out and say (emphasis mine):
Thank you for your email. We are extremely proud of our Houston Volunteer office in Houston. However, the video clip on the Fox network is not our office, it's another group of individuals in our area. We are going to make certain to contact the affiliate so that the draw a clear distinction between that office and ours.
The Houston Volunteer and the Obama campaign have no ties to Che Guevara whatsoever.
Thank you again for your concern, and bringing this to our attention.

Great. Yet another disgrace to Cuba. Yet another reason to feel nauseous. Yet another betrayal from within. Well, at least Ana Belen Montes was Puerto Rican.
