The Hungarian honorary Cubiche

So we've been preparing for CubaNostalgia and one of the things we wanted to do was a banner honoring and reminding people about Dr. Biscet. One of our sponsors for the show, Abe Cardenas, offered a banner stand, the kind you see at trade shows. But we didn't have a banner to put in it. I have some friends in the graphic design industry but on such short notice, I didn't want to ask for favors. So it was going to be an opportunity lost. Then I got this email:

Hi, Im a graphic designer residing in Budapest, Hungary. Ive been following the Cuban situation for years by now (i have a thread about the subject on a Hungarian website). I would really like to help the Babalu Blog -and the cause- with a graphic design about Biscet if you are willing to receive it. Of course if you need an icon or a logo of any kind, im gladly helping you out. Im looking forward to your answer, Sincerely, Gyula Nemeth seadevilworks.blogspot.com

Now I'm not a big believer in fate, I think for the most part we make our futures. But Gyula dropped out of the sky and into our lap. He has designed a beautiful banner that we'll be unveiling at CubaNostalgia on Friday. In the meantime take a look at this piece he designed in memory of Cachao:

I'm sure Claudia will get a kick out of this one (Gyula is the defensive coordinator of an American Football team in Hungary):

Many thanks to Gyula. He is now officially an honorary Cubiche and can be found on the blogroll under Sea Devil Works.

Holy shit, you are right. I was focused on the image of Cachao. I'm sure he'll fix it.

Guys,

After Cuba Nostalgia can I have your permission to put the banner on the Biscet website?

Yes Mandingo, we designed it with the URL on it.

Speaking of Biscet, his daughter Winnie Biscet is asking people in Facebook if they could write something for her father through her email..

winnie_biscet@yahoo.com

..she's doing a kind of Father's Day thing where she will send him all our letters and she would appreciate it if everyone chipped in. What do you say? Let's do this!

Felix, do you have a link to the facebook page where she's making the request?

Henry:

The email was sent to the members of the Free Oscar Elias Biscet group on Facebook. Here is the content of the email:

Subject: Winnie Biscet

"I WANT THAT PEOPLE WRITE SOMETHING TO MY FATHER ANYTHING THEY WANT TO SAY TO HIM. IT HAS TO BE IN SPANISH! IM GOING TO SEND ALL THOSE WRITING TO HIM AS SOON YOU SEND IT TO ME. I KNOW HE WILL LOVE IT. I WANT TO D IT FOR "FATHERS DAY" PLEASE SEND TO MY EMAIL (winnie_biscet@yahoo.com)"

This is the link to the group in Facebook:

To access the group you need to create a free Facebook account if you don't have one already. There are others interesting Cuba related groups in Facebook.
