Sign that I've been hanging around Val too long
When Willy Chirino was singing "Ya Viene Llegando" at the White House, I was crying at my desk. I can only imagine what Val was doing there, in person.
I'll post a link to the White House video once it's archived and posted.

That's wonderful! I'm so proud!
And I can't wait to see the video, I'm sure I will share your tears.

Some years ago after watching a documentary about Cuba in a theater I could not hold back my tears as I left the movie house. I was afried that those who saw the tears without any sound escaping my mouth would think me weak. An older very dignified Cuban gentleman who was walking out with his wife notice my miscomfort and said to me......"Joven, you are shedding tears that I no longer have. How I envy you." I felt like hugging that old couple and could almost feel all the pain, anguish and suffering they had lived through.
Your tears flow because you feel, because you love and because you ache for the pain of Cuba.
Feel proud that with your work you are doing something about it.
God bless you my brother.

I didn't get to see the webcast, but I cried when I read the transcript. Especially this:
"Today, 113 years after José Martí left us, a new poet-patriot expresses the hopes of the Cuban people. With us this morning is songwriter Willy Chirino. Willy will perform a song that is on the Cuban people's lips and in their hearts. And here are some of its lyrics: Nuestro día ya viene llegando."

Henry, I too was crying at my desk watching the telecast and wondering how Val was holding up. This was definately a "three tissue day". ...And when I heard the Cuban Anthem, I just lost it!

OMG I cried watching the viejitos dance at Cuba Nostalgia. I'm glad I can't view the video right now. I'd smear my makeup all over!

I have it on good authority (without releasing my sources) that as exhausted and emotionally drained as he was from the weekend and the White House, he was STILL a bucket of tears as I dropped him off at the airport. He can now relax and enjoy the trip home (I hope).
To Val, everyone at Babalu, and all those who support Cuban Solidarity, you are all AWESOME!

I made it all the way to the national anthem, but then I couldn't help it.

I likewise cried when Chirino and Lisette feted Communist Party member Rosita Fornés at their home in Miami recently and gave her a birthday cake.
