Blood, Sweat …and Tears
The “revolution” is in danger of self-destructing according to Maria del Carmen Concepcion who is a senior member of the Secretariat, the executive arm of the party's Central Committee.
Speaking at a provincial party assembly on Monday, Concepcion gave a motivational speech-communist style- to party members urging, (warning), them "to work with urgency to get better results in the economy, basically in food production, as well as to increase savings, efficiency and import-substitution."
The regime is worried about its profit margins which are shrinking due to the ever rising prices for energy and food.
"Either we solve the problems or we ourselves destroy the revolution that cost us so much blood and sweat"
Of course, the blood and sweat Maria del Carmen is talking about is the Cuban people’s, not the party members. Whenever there are sacrifices to be made for the “revolution” it's Cuba’s long suffering populace that must sacrifice so that the oligarchic ruling class can maintain its standard of living. The party members just crack the whips.
Carlos Lage “broke the news” to Cuban people on Sunday via Juventud Rebelde where they were informed that the despite of (r)aul’s promises and hard work to improve people’s lives, global factors beyond his control where impeding his heroic efforts.
"the blind laws of the market have converted the world economy into a casino."
"Due to the economic impact of rising fuel and food prices, and practically everything we import ... some of the main investment projects have been reduced and further reductions will be necessary,"
In other words, more sacrifices, more blood, sweat and tears for the Cuban people.

the blind laws of the market have converted the world economy into a casino.
That's the problem right there. A failure to accept the immutable laws of the market. People act in their own self-interest. When you remove market mechanisms that reward such behavior you can only achieve failure. Lage should stick to medicine.
