“You cannot fly like an eagle with wings of a wren.”
-- William James

Something to think about when choosing our next president.

And your point is what Cucu?

My point is that the media's favorite wants to be an eagle but has the wings of a wren or a sparrow.

McCain's earned his wings pal. whats your excuse?

Val, I used to love your blog, but its been highjacked by a bunch of looney conservatives. I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend, but seriously, this went from an intelligent blog where people used to share their ideas, to a blog of nutcases posting idiocies and alienating its readers. I wish you the best of luck and continued success with your blog.

I guess some people have a problem with "Freedom of Speech."

"Loony conservatives"? Gladys, what political ideology do you think the writers here represent? Do you want moderates? Do you want leftists? Enlighten us, please. Maybe Val should fire all of us and hire Joe Garcia to write commentary. Would that be better for you? Hmmm?

Oy vay ...

I post a photo of a bald eagle I took at the Viera Wetlands and insert a quote from one of the greats of English Literature and I'm deemed "loony", a "nutcase" and "idiotic."

Geesh. I'd hate to think what I'd be referred to if I posted a Great Blue Heron and a quote from T.S. Eliot....

such meshugener!

"The horror. The horror. The horror."

Beautiful and symbolic.

BTW Why do press agency reporters suspend disbelief when reporting on Cuban matters? One recent ridiculous example was Niko Price’s report on Cuban urban farming e.g. http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=5024253

Did it not occur to this reporter to wonder why with all the vacant fertile land in Cuba crops are now grown in cities. No mention of the cost of urban irrigation water, or where the necessary fertilizers came from. Even worse no data on production was presented, not even the dubious official Cuban government reports.

Mike "my pal" Pancier,

So defensive! Your exquisite, subtle appropriation of james' metaphor was not lost on me. In a moment of good ol' fashioned Cuban choteo inflected inspiration, I thought it would be interesting to spin your illuminating quote to reflect some of the criticisms of Mr. McCain.

Oh, and you many need to dust off your American literature anthology. HENRY James was one of the "greats" of American Literature. William James, the author you cite and brother to Henry, was an American philosopher and psychologist.

Thanks!
