From the Fruitcake Files

Evangelical Christian pediatric psychologist, author, and radio show host, James Dobson, took Barack Obama to task in a segment that will be aired tomorrow on his "Focus on the Family" radio show. Obama mentioned Dobson in his speech to the liberal Christian group Call to Renewal, citing examples in the Bible and asking:
"which Biblical passages should guide public policy — chapters like Leviticus, which Obama said suggests slavery is OK and eating shellfish is an abomination, or Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, "a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application."Dobson accused Obama of incorrectly equating Old Testament texts and dietary codes that no longer apply to Jesus' teachings in the New Testament.
Dobson reserved some of his harshest criticism for Obama's argument that the religiously motivated must frame debates over issues like abortion not just in their own religion's terms but in arguments accessible to all people.
He said Obama, who supports abortion rights, is trying to govern by the "lowest common denominator of morality," labeling it "a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution."
It's interesting that Obama is bringing religion into his campaign again, especially at the of expense getting some votes from the conservative voters- if he were going to get any to begin with, that is. Liberals are no fans of Dobson, that's not a secret. But there are many conservatives who hold Dr. Dobson. in high regard; pitting his idealogy against Al Sharpton is not only humorous, but a I see it as a guaranteed vote against Obama by any conservative who may have been on the fence. (I can't imagine any conservative voting for Obama but I'm sure somewhere, there is someone captivated by his charm and JFK-esque presence.) If I were Obama, I'd leave religion out of the campaign. After purging it of Jeremiah Wright, he should just sidestep it, lest he be called another hard to chew holiday dessert.
You can read the whole chewy thing HERE.

While I am against Obama and consider myself an imperfect and sinner Catholic, I find Mr. Dobson a bit of a hypocrite himself. Focus on the Family uses the same Leviticus texts to denounce homosexuality as incompatible with christianity, yet the topic is hardly mentioned in the New Testament, much less directly addressed by Jesus Christ.
Mr. Dobson can't have it both ways to suit him. If he is going to say the Old Testament is not to be taken literally, then maybe he should stop the hate speech against homosexuals and realize that we are all sinners in varying degrees. Is being a homosexual worse than being divorced? Worse than eating shellfish or pork (God sakes, Cubans rotting in hell over that one!). I think both Obama and Mr. Dobson can go f___ themselves.
There, I feel better....forgive me Father for I have sinned! :)

Look, I read the Bible three times from front to finish in my 44 years of life. I agree with James Dobson and making fun of him wont change my mind not take the truth away from what he stated. Obama's interpretation of the bible is a perverse stance that goes against the truth. I perosnally think you have a grudge against those who are against the act of homosexuals.
NEXT, I also agree with him in the article where he might not vote for McCain due to John's lack of conservative credentials. I have been saying the same thing. I am sitting this one out except to vote for a Judge I admire in Broward. Might vote for Bob Barr in the Libertarian party.
But finally, There are more versus that speaks out against the homosuxuality act in the new testiment (not the soul whom God loves) than in the old testiment. For those of you in Rio Linda....there are no Gay rights in the bible! Pero vota por Obama y el te da los derchos pero he will take other freedoms away!

Claudia, you do realize that Obama made these statements in 2006. Why did Dobson take so long to respond – did he just descend Mount Sinai with the Lord's response?

The truth here shows bigoted remarks from Gay-Activists coming out of the closet to support their messiah Obama efforts to confuse and secure the Christian vote until someone with certified education to speak on the matter contests the notion.
Go to the top of the list and you will read a story how the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN CUBA is protesting the Castro push to promote gay rights. If your church is with me on the subject then you better pay pennance because you may end up in pergatory. Do you dare to beieve?!?!?!?!?!
