Benicio Del Toro: beyond useful idiot

Digital Spy: Benicio Del Toro has revealed that he discussed playing che guevara in an upcoming biopic with Fidel Castro,.Del Toro, who won the best actor prize at Cannes for his role in Steven Soderbergh's Che, met the former president of Cuba briefly to talk about his friendship with revolutionary Guevara.
He said: "I met [Fidel Castro] for five minutes and he knew about the project, he knew about the work we were doing. And he said to me that he was very happy that we had spent so much time researching the subject.
"I would like for him to see it. I would take his comments. No-one probably knew Che better than he did."
I want to see the day when that Oscar Statue has the same standing in Hollywood as Nazi war memorabilia.

Many of the world's cultural institutions, festivals and international prizes including of course, "The Oscars", "The Pulitzer," "The Nobel Prize," and "Cannes" have become so totally politicized that the overarching criteria for excellence is not really quality, but political message. If the political message of the entry is anti-American and pro-communist, it moves to the head of the line. In this way, an extraordinarily movie like Julian Schnabel's "Before Night Falls" based on the life of Reinaldo Arenas is TOTALLY dismissed by the Oscars. In fact, the year that Javier Bardem should have won the Oscar for his tour de force as Reinaldo Arenas, Mr. Toro got an Oscar for "Traffic." This should NOT HAVE HAPPENED. But of course, Bardem was not given the Oscar because he was playing the role of an anti-Castro Cuban dissident.

So, is this what you get when you cross Brad Pitt with a chimp?
Seriously, the fatuousness, shallowness and delusions of these celebrity types is incredible (or would be, if the problem wasn't so pervasive).

I wonder if Mr. Del Toro ever felt the need to speak to the families of che`s victims?
It may be that Mr. del Toro identifies with Che because like Che his family were of the upper middle class in Puerto Rico and this guy was not bright enough to follow his parents footsteps. So walla........actor. Onr more comemierda in Hollywood. Its a shame this mamao is Puerto Rican.

Considering what the Colombian Armed Forces just pulled off. And how the pulled it off, doesn't everybody think that the best thing we might do with/for Sr. Del Toro is to send him the latest edition of the "CHE" T-Shirt . the one that says -
"I'M THE GUY THAT FARC'D FARC!" -S-
