Liberal Paradox — Part 2

As I mentioned in my post a few days ago, the one good thing about liberals is that if you let them talk long enough, they will eventually refute their own arguments. The only real mystery is whether they can actually see the duplicity in their words and are being intellectually dishonest, or are they just that dumb. I believe that you have instances where the former is the case, and there are instances when the latter comes into play. And then there are instances where they are just being dishonest and dumb.

Today we have an example of a liberal using both the dishonest and dumb approach to arguing an issue. The topic is the US and Nelson Mandela.

The two bodies of Congress struck the name of South African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela from the government’s highly dubious “terrorist watch list.”

That’s right! The man who led the struggle to end white minority rule in South Africa had for years officially been labeled a terrorist by the U.S. government. Although Mandela had spent 27 years in prison and emerged to lead a peaceful transition from white minority rule to Black majority rule in the mid-1990s, up until last week our government considered him a terrorist.

Here the author fails to mention that not only did the US label Mandela a “terrorist,” but in effect, so did Amnesty International. AI never recognized Nelson Mandela as a political prisoner specifically because of his violent acts. Of course, mentioning AI’s classification of Mandela would kind of kill his argument against the United States. So, in the mind of the liberal, it is better to twist the truth a little and omit some very important facts than to cede a point to your enemy. So much for intellectual honesty.

Then comes this lovely comment, which made me wonder if these people actually read what they write.

This is an amazing example of how the collective racist mind works. During the 1980s President Ronald Reagan had a policy known as “constructive engagement” with the then racist South African government. Constructive engagement basically meant that the U.S. would publicly criticize South Africa’s racist system of apartheid but did virtually nothing to help bring it an end.
Sort of like what the rest of the world is doing with Cuba, isn’t it? But since liberals have a real hard time realizing that things they say on one topic can actually refute something they said on another, you will continue to see such ridiculous statements.

Liberals—you gotta love ‘em

It's called a double standard, which is a nicer way of saying two-faced. One standard for anything leftist, and another quite different one for everything else. These people aren't being stupid, they're just being hypocrites who figure they can get away with it. Sadly, they usually can. The MSM is certainly not going to call them on it.

I don't gotta love nobody, especially people who talk out of both sides of their mouth.

The best thing you can do is recording what they say. That usually shuts them up.
