Happy Fourth of July

"May it be to the world what I believe it will be, (to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all), the Signal of arousing men to burst the chains, under which monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings and security of self government. That form which we have substituted restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion. All eyes are opened, or opening to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born ,with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of god. These are grounds of hope for others. For ourselves, let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollections of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them. ..."-- Thomas Jefferson on the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
May all my fellow infidels have a great Fourth of July.

The horrible thing is that the castroite tyranny and its sounding board the [anti-american let me add] mainstream media is so insidious, hypocritical and pernacious that they managed to depict Cuban Americans [who are one of the most patriotic groups in this country] into a bunch of ungrateful, anti-american, "foreigners." I remember during the Elian crisis that the NY Daily News went as far as saying that if we didn't like it here [meaning that if we didn't accept Castro's/Clinton's/Reno's arbitrary decision to return the boy to fidel's clutches] we should get out of this country! And the NY Times called us ungrateful for undermining Janet Reno's convoluted and illegal interpretation of the law. There was even a poll taken somewhere that said that we were the most hated group in this country.
It's sad because as Cigar Mike proves in this post Cuban Americans for the most part have nothing but love for their adopted country, the USA.

Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of [people] and so it must be daily earned and refreshed -- else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.

34th president of the United States
