American Patriot - Jesse Helms Dead at 86

helms.jpg

Read it here.

He died on Independence Day. Without folks like him, the liberal appeasers of the 1970's and 1980's would have perpetuated the Soviet Union. RIP.

Declaration of Independence signers, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson also passed away on July 4th. Coincidence? I think not.

He always cared about us and about Cuban freedom.

A great loss. My heartfelt condolences to his whole family.

Very sad, he was a great American.

Apparently some of you will sleep with anyone with the right anti-Communist credentials. Let me show you his credentials.

Soon after the Senate vote on the Confederate flag insignia, Sen. Jesse Helms (R.-N.C.) ran into Mosely-Braun in a Capitol elevator. Helms turned to his friend, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R.-Utah), and said, "Watch me make her cry. I'm going to make her cry. I'm going to sing 'Dixie' until she cries." He then proceeded to sing the song about the good life during slavery to Mosely-Braun (Gannett News Service, 9/2/93; Time, 8/16/93).

On CNN's Larry King Live (9/15/95), when a caller praised guest Senator Jesse Helms for "everything you've done to help keep down the niggers," Helms replied, "Thank you, I think."

Helms' impeccable racist credentials include calling the University of North Carolina (UNC) the "University of Negroes and Communists." (Charleston Gazette, 9/15/95)

yeah Duke like you folks and Sen. Robert Byrd, former Grand Keagle in the KKK;

He was re-elected over and over in his state and liberals just hated him. Heck even Bono made friends with him.

And don't forget it was the Dems who filibustered all the civil rights acts in the 1960's. Please spare me.

Posted by: Cigar Mike Pancier [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 4, 2008 03:32 PM

Let me repeat: I am not a Democrat, and the Democrats had an even worse record on civil rights than the GOP.

According to what I read on this site, conservatives are supposed to be the sane ones, the ones who tell the truth. It would have done wonders for your integrity if you'd simply written that Helms was a disgusting man who occasionally did the right thing. That's history in all its complexity, not the whitewash (and I do mean white) given here.

I'm delighted that Helms apologized for his stance on AIDS; it may mitigate a remark like this: “Nothing positive happened to Sodom and Gomorrah,” he said, “and nothing positive is likely to happen to America if our people succumb to the drumbeats of support for the homosexual lifestyle. These are your brothers and sisters he's describing here.

"Declaration of Independence signers, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson also passed away on July 4th. Coincidence? I think not."

"He always cared about us and about Cuban freedom."

Marta and George, you’re both right on with these comments no matter what anybody has to say against Jesse Helms.

May he rest in peace.

Thinwhiteduke,

Regarding your comments I would have voted for Jesse Helms for President of the United States of America with all his racist vices before I’ll ever vote for a bullshit shit artist like Barack Hussein Obama who by the way is a racist too, but the other way around (whether you want to admit it or not) who does not have the integrity to admit it to the American people.

And if you think that I’m wrong how come Barack Hussein Obama associated with the likes of Reverend Wright and others for so long?

So please give me a fucking break and stop your bullshit, at least Jesse Helms was more honest in his views that the current Democratic candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America will ever be.

Posted by: FreedomForCuba [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 4, 2008 04:04 PM

Why do you guys keep bringing up Obama and the Democrats? This has got nothing to do with them. We're discussing Helms and his past.

But I'll toss you a bone: the worst president in American history was Democrat Woodrow Wilson.

Posted by: thinwhiteduke [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 4, 2008 04:23 PM

His biggest achievements were in foreign policy and he was always a friend of ours:

"Helms served as chairman of the Agriculture Committee and Foreign Relations Committees over the years at times when the GOP held the Senate majority, using his posts to protect his state's tobacco growers and other farmers and place his stamp on foreign policy.

His opposition to Communism defined his foreign policy views. He took a dim view of many arms control treaties, opposed Fidel Castro at every turn, and supported the contras in Nicaragua as well as the right-wing government of El Salvador. He opposed the Panama Canal treaties that then-President Carter pushed through a reluctant Senate in 1977.

As Castro's fierce critic, Helms helped create legislation in 1996 to strengthen U.S. restrictions against the Caribbean island's communist government.

The Helms-Burton law bars the United States from normalizing relations with Cuba as long as Castro or his brother Raul — who has been president since February — are involved in government. That law also sought to pressure other nations not to do business with Cuba, a condition protested by Mexico and other third nations."

As I said, but for folks like him with his foreign policy credentials, the Soviet Union is no more.

Thinwhitedue,

The worst President of the United States of America in the 20th century was:

Jimmy (the Communist asshole) Carter.

The only thing that he has been for good in his whole fucking Communist life is:

Habitat for Humanity, nothing else.

Posted by: FreedomForCuba [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 4, 2008 07:47 PM

Correction, thinwhiteduke,

The only good thing that the Communist asshole former President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter has been good for in his whole fucking Communist life is:

Habitat for Humanity, nothing else.

And why I keep focusing on Barack Hussein Obama?

Because he’ll be the much worse black version of Jimmy (the fucking Communist stupid asshole) Carter.

In this time and age, America and the American people cannot afford Barack Hussein Obama to get to get in charge of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, that’s why I keep bringing it up.

And if he does get into office, you’ll remember my posts, you better fucking believe me, because is going to get very ugly for America.

And by the way,

President Wilson belonged to another era, another time, a totally different situation and challenges for America that in no way shape and form correlates to today’s scenario.

Unlike Jimmy (the fucking Communist asshole) Carter who represents today’s reality, you must remember that his stupidity allowed the Ayatollah to get to power in Iran.

Now 29 years later, were finally realize that we need to do something about the mullah’s controlled Iran because they’re racing to build a nuclear bomb to destroy the Jewish State of Israel.

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were true patriots. Jesse Helms is not an iota worthy of being compared to them.

He was a bigot and a racist. People like Jesse Helms only further create divides in this country, and this opinion comes from a Cuban-American by the way.

I could give less of a piece of excrement that he brought forth the Helms-Burton Act, which I disagree with anyway.

It would seem that the criteria to be a hero is, for many Cubans, 1. anti-Communism and 2. to have done at least a single act for them. This alone creates a fanaticism for hate-filled people that ignores all their other transgressions.

I love my country and I want to to be free. I love the culture and the people, but sometimes I just feel disgusted by the narrow-minded idiot extremists that give us a bad name.

Babalu Blog, j'accuse.

Abel, you've been hitting the kool-aid pretty hard. If I'd read one-fifth the outrage about Robert Byrd and his vile past as a Grand Kleagle of the KKK in West Virginia, as I've read here about Helms, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. But I haven't and I won't. You liberal Democrats are the biggest fucking hypocrites on the planet. You're ready to bash the bona fide anti-Communist Helms for a racist past that does not even come close to what your boy Byrd was. So please, either be fair, or just shut the fuck up.

Posted by: George L. Moneo [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 4, 2008 11:24 PM

George,

You're very black and white in assuming that I like Robert Byrd, which I don't. Ese viejo no sirve para nada.

I may be a liberal Democrat, but that doesn't mean I won't be fair. Yeah, Byrd was and probably is a racist to this day, and I honestly don't like the man. In fact, I respect many conservatives for their leadership, but I don't think we should be praising any racists and much less comparing them to our founding fathers, especially a man such as Jesse Helms.

People are too quick to assume that because I am a liberal I have a deep hatred for conservatives, or that conservatives have a deep hatred for liberals. The fact of the matter is that there is a center and there is mutual respect. You, sir, only work to further divides in our country. I'll assume it's something you're doing in memory of the dead senator.

Posted by: Abel [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 5, 2008 03:15 AM

Abel,

I don’t know were to begin with you:

Whether you like it or not Babalu Blog is an island on the net without a bearded bastard.

And those of us who contribute here hold conservative values for the most part.

The experiences that we went through while living under Castro’s regime reinforces our deeply anti-Communist values that you don’t seem to like.

Those experiences taught us to stand up to those who are willing apologist for Communism.

I don’t know if you lived under Castro’s tyranny or you left Cuba when you were a small child or you were born here from Cuban parents or you were born in another Latin-American country.

And you call us the following:

“The narrow-minded idiot extremists that give us a bad name.”

But as you wrote the comment above you seem to be of Cuban-American background. I wonder if you ever lived under Castro’s tyranny.

Plus you wrote this other comment to George:

“You, sir, only work to further divides in our country. I'll assume it's something you're doing in memory of the dead senator.”

Well, you sound like the typical liberal asshole that wants us to tolerate your stupid liberal views while you cannot tolerate our conservative values. Then you resort to call us extremist and dividers.

Well, I have news for you, thought fucking shit if you don’t like it.

For all I care you can go and kiss our conservative extremist asses. And while you’re at it, go fuck yourself and take your fucking, stupid bullshit views to another blog because we don’t need them here.

The truth and the fact of the matter is that while Jesse Helms was in the Senate he did much more to tighten the screws on Castro’s tyranny and standing up to Communism around the world that your fucking liberal, Communist Democratic Party that today is full of lefties extremists bent on surrendering the United States of America to it’s enemies, including it's current future Presidential nominee Barack Hussein Obama.

Unfortunately idiots like you call us extremists, narrow minded, intolerant and dividing to America while failing to acknowledge that your side is far more extremist, narrow-minded, intolerant and dividing to America that you’ll ever have the courage or the integrity to admit.

Here in NC Helms was greatly respected...even whiney liberals knew he was honest and forthright. He always won with the help of Democrats...back when there were decent Democrats. Todays Democrats would make Castro, Stalin, Chavez, Pol Pot etc look like rank amatures if given the chance to “rule”.
