How can you argue with success?
Republican senator Arlen Specter told reporters yesterday that during his Latin American trip next month, he hopes to meet with the great and munificent Cuban prince, Raul the Pragmatist, as well as the simian king of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez. "I am a firm believer in dialogue," the senator told reporters before boasting of his previous meetings with the dictatorial monarchy in Cuba.
Speaking to reporters on a wide range of subjects Wednesday, Specter said his experience has been that meeting with world leaders leads to change.. . . Specter said he met with Fidel Castro during previous stops in Cuba and talked to him about drug interdiction. He said he'd like to follow that up with Raul Castro, as well as to discuss trade and tourism during a visit there. He said he believes the United States is "on the cusp" of re-establishing formal relations with Cuba.
Perhaps we can all thank the Senator for the great strides in freedom and change that has swept the Cuban nation where Cubans now have the the right to own cell phones they cannot afford, to own computers that cannot connect to the world wide web, to stay in tourist hotels that do not accept the currency they are paid in, and the most marvelous right of all, to own a toaster oven with no food to toast.
Now how can you argue with such success?

I am embarrassed that this man is a "republican" (RINO) and frm Philly. If he wants change to sweep through somewhere, he may want to start with Philly, the murder capital of the East coast.

This is a hilarious, outstanding (even thought very painful for the people in the island) reply to this Republican RINO.
No wonder the Republicans lost Congress in 2006 with assholes like the Senator Arlen Specter in the Party.

LOL - so he wants to work on drug interdiction with the drug runners themselves? Sounds like a great idea.

Remember, we could have had Toomey in Specter's place, and we almost did. Toomey lost by a hair to a five term Senator. That was thanks to Bush and Santorum supporting Specter. Now Bush is not so popular and we know about Santorum. But, that's okay, Toomey is in a good place. He is sticking it to all of the rinos by doing his best to unseat them as head of The Club For Growth.
