Update: Cigar Mike -- Since we're on history quizes, here's one ...

Great Orators of the Democratic Party

• "One man with courage makes a majority."--attributed to Andrew Jackson

• "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."--Franklin D. Roosevelt

• "The buck stops here."--Harry S. Truman

• "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."--John F. Kennedy

• "I will win. Don't worry about that. . . . I understand why a lot of folks are saying, this should just happen. Why are we having to run all these television commercials? Why do we have to raise all this money? Just read the papers. These are the knuckleheads who have been in charge. Throw 'em out. But American politics aren't that simple." -- Name the Orator?

Republican!..As as I've always told my fellow Cubans and NonCuban Hispanics, Stop believing the Dems lies. The only thing Democrats love more than listening to themselves talk, is having the minority community believing the bullshit.

What many don't realize is that the Republican party's beginnings and beliefs in that time closely resembled that of the modern day democrats. The republicans back when Lincoln was president opposed slavery, presided over Reconstruction and emphasized education, railraods, etc. The democrats at that time believed that the federal govt should be limited and were very much at the forefront of state's rights. The democrats back then had very similar ideals to modern day republicans. The names of the parties have remained the same, but the ideals have changed significanlty.

Certainly not the 'ORTODOXO' Party. -S-

the GOP was instrumental in getting the 1964 Civil Rights Act and 1965 Voting Rights Act passed into law. Without them, they could not have overcome the filibuster by the Southern Dems.

George,

The person who said "I will win. Don't worry abou that...I understand why a lot of folks are saying, this should just happen. Why are we having to run all these television commercials?," who was it?? Please don't let it be who I think it is, and I hope he was not saying the truth, because I can't believe American citizens would ever utter those words said person says they've said.
