Brains, BRASS AND Beauty

A triple threat. I just found out that Governor Palin came in 2nd place in the 1984 Miss Alaska Pageant.

I'd say she has traded up in her competitions since then.

Claudia,
Do you use that Spanish word in your language classroom?

Posted by: delacova [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 03:12 PM

Profe, I hope she doesn't. But, Claudia, this is an exceptional situation and fits very well. Now, the next thing is chosing the best fit: skirts or pantsuits, bassinet or playplen in the VP office, roses or daisys?
Seriously, I think she is going to be an great asset: smart, beautiful, regular Mom and wife, and it seems very down to earth.
Great at public speaking too.
We sould send her some flowers :)

Tony, of course I don't! In fact, my students frequently use it to refer to me, preceded by the word "brass."

bold move by McCain, although I think it's a risky one. Having an infant with downs puts a tremendous pressure/strain on a family. Can she handle it during a grueling national presidential campaign? Who knows - maybe she has the support network at home to deal with it, but I think many are underrepresenting the stress this will cause her. We'll see...

omg yeay! so articulate, i know. but i am so happy that's all i am able to muster. :-)

Gumercindo,

Would you have said the same if it been a man instead? What's the difference when both are the parents.

LaConchita says:

-"...although I think it's a risky one. Having an infant with downs puts a tremendous pressure/strain on a family."

Firefly - good point on that rebuttal to above claim.

You know, this is now multiple times that I am hearing this claim today. I am now starting to question the 'sincerity' of this claim and it's starting to sound like a 'talking point' being bandied about by those who 'claim' to for "women's rights".

"Would you have said the same if it been a man instead? What's the difference when both are the parents."

Yes, I would have. That said, the infant is just 5 months old. No offense to fathers out there (I am one), but when a mother of a special needs child is not around, I think that might have an impact on the child (moreso than a father not being around). That's my opinion and I'm sure Palin and family have thought long and hard about this.

To everyone plain and simple,

I think that bringing to this world of today a child with downs syndrome shows the following character traits on their parents (and specially on the mother of course).

1. Upmost Love for the Child and the Gift of Life.

2. Again, Love and respect for God's given Gift of Life.

3. Love and respect for the will and the way of the Almighty Lord God.

This kid is extremelly blessed having come to be born in this world of today with such a difficult handicap and yet to have such a mother and father that decided to keep the faith in the Lord, Giver of Life and decided to choose life instead, regardless of the challenges to be faced down the line.

Today I'm very proud that John McCain made the decision to choose Sarah Palin as his running mate.

This woman has a heart and strenght of character that goes way beyond what any of us can imagine and definitely is the right person for the job.

This is the kind of woman we need as a Vice-President of the United States of America in case something happens to John McCain, period.

Agree with you 100% up until knowing whether or not she's right for the job. As I stated, this will put an unprecented strain on the family. I pray she and her family have the strength to prevail and endure the tough times.

gumercindo,

Great leaders characters are forget out of tought and straining times, is just that simple.

Whatever does that kill you will make you much stronger in life as we don't learn for the good and easy times in life, don't you ever forget that.

I smell a great and corageous leader in this lady Sarah Palin regardless of her experience.

Actually she makes Barack Hussein Obama look like shit when you bring him down from the pedestal that the MSM has put him on.

Correction,

Whatever does not kill you will make you much stronger in life as we don't learn for the good and easy times in life, don't you ever forget that.

Please let me add one more thing that I sensed as I heard her acceptance speech.

Sarah Palin is no Dan Quayle and when she starts hitting that campaing trail for the next 60+ days the American people will very quickly learn that fact.

She's the rising star of the Republican Party and I strongly suspect that she will quickly start shinning in ways nobody ever expected it.

I think that the Democrats are in for the shock of their lives.

This Presidential contest has just gotten so much hotter now regardless of the way the MSM is dowplaying Sarah Palin's strengths.

Get ready because is going to get a whole lot better from this point on for the Republicans prospects of winning in November.

Freedom, once again, I agree with you 100%, especially when it comes to the axiom of what deosn't kill you makes you stronger. I am a realist, though, and while in the end, this process might make Palin (and her family) stronger, it remains to be seen whether or not they'll be able to make it through this process ok.

gumercindo,

If you have any lingering doubs, just check out Sarah Paulin video comments about the energy crisis posted on this Blog and you'll get a good idea what's she's made of.

This lady has more brains, beauty, guts and far far more common sense tha both Democratic candidates for the Presidency/Vice-Presidency of the United States of America.

Barack Hussein Obama compared with her is nothing more and nothing less that a fake MSM manufactured piece of bullshit political act.

Take him away from his teleprompter and he's nothing and yet, he's the one running for President.

What an insulting yoke is being played by the Democrats and the MSM on the American people.

Posted by: FreedomForCuba [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 30, 2008 11:16 AM

So she has a downs syndrome child. She's got a loving husband and lots of money to pay for his care. You're really grasping at straws when you use this to try and critise her as a bad vp pick.

I didn't see you critise the Dems when they picked a canidate, Obama, who happens to have downs syndrome.

Posted by: Uranus_attacks [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 1, 2008 04:03 AM

Uranus,

You mean Obama is a MONGOLICO?

If so, we’re in agreement. Somehow I always knew that.

Further proof of it is that is that if he truly wanted to win in November he should had picked Hillary as his VP choice instead of Joe Biden.

The rest is history and reinforces your views about him.

Thanks for reminding me about Obama’s stupidity.

LOL
