Cuba's criminal leadership
There is an enormous crisis in Cuba; the devastation from Gustav has left Cuban’s in heartbreaking, desperate conditions. I hold the castro dictatorship responsible for this humanitarian crisis; raul castro should resign or face criminal charges.
Cuban dissidents have written a letter to President Bush asking him to temporarily suspend the embargo so that exiles can get aid to their families, aid that should be provided or requested by Cuba's dictator. The very same dictator that does not allow relief agencies such as the Red Cross into Cuba. Meanwhile, Cuba sends thousands of doctors, medical personnel and supplies around the world as propaganda agents for the regime. There were hundreds of Cuban “scientists” sent to Jamaica to screw in light bulbs for crying out loud. Shouldn’t they be serving the needs of Cuban’s first?
There are thousands of homes destroyed, and who knows how many are now homeless, officially there are no homeless in Cuba. There should not be this much damage. The reason so many homes couldn’t withstand the storm is because for 50 years the castro regime has withheld the materials needed to maintain them. Neglect that is business as usual for communist states, just part of the plan to keep the people subjugated in abject poverty. It’s hard to rebel if you are spending all your energy just to put a little food on your plate and digging through garbage looking for junk to patch your house.
Power lines are down, potable water is lacking, it’s a humanitarian crisis caused by criminal neglect.
Officials in the Cuban "government" (sic) should demand the resignation of raul castro, and an end to the failed “revolution”. This band of thugs has destroyed a nation, and through greed, malice, and mismanagement failed to provide even the most basic of government services.
Of course, dissidents are asking for help, any humane person would do the same. If I had family in Cuba, I would do everything possible to get help to them.
How large a catastrophe do the Cuban people have to endure before someone removes these madmen from power?
