Hurricane Ike update, God help Cuba

The latest news has Cuba taking a direct hit, and it's been upgraded to a Catagory 3. As Firefly commented in another post, any donations we give to charitable organizations are confiscated by the regime and never make it to the Cuban people who need them. So what is there to do besides pray? This is making me crazy...

Again, borrowing from Firefly's comment, tell them this and ask them to intercede on behalf of the CUBAN PEOPLE:
It’s customary for the Cuban government to give charitable contributions they receive to other countries affected by Hurricanes. During Katrina all contributions made to CARITAS and other non-profit organizations were diverted to Jamaica and Haiti “from the Cuban government.” This is how they work their propaganda machine. Several years ago donations of milk and other perishables made by the Spanish government were sold in the “tiendas para divisas” in DOLLARS. Ask the UN to apply pressure on Cuba (as they did in Meynar) to accept foreign aid from the U.S. and the E.U. Otherwise, those in need will NEVER see any of it.

This article reminds me of the Myanmar government, and how they acted after that devastating cyclone earlier this year. I can't believe how people can be so thoughtless! FUCK CASTRO!
