Deja Vu: Propaganda in the Press

So help me, I really thought we were past this. The Guardian has published an article? editorial? written by one very misguided fellow traveller on how the cruel US should lift its blockade. I'll refrain from demanding the UK return the Malvinas, but I am really annoyed that the rhetoric coming from the Brits is the rhetoric of the regime. Blockade, indeed!

I'll skip the convenient omissions of fact and the downright inaccuracies. On the bright side, many of the comments support the truth. I took the liberty of writing to the editors, because it seems to me they bear some responsibility for the accuracy of what they publish. Read it for yourself here.

One More Time Everyone - You Too Guardian Reporter!

"The Blockade" - as it refers to non-strategic items can be summed up in two (2) words - PAY CASH,
which is the one thing the regime cannot or will not do. As to Hurricane Relief offered to the island and turned down - it would be FREE, GRATIS, No Need to Pay Back. So Guardian Reporter - Pray Tell - "Who's Zoomin' Who?" -S-

The only blockade here seems to be the one on honest reporting imposed by the pinko, anti-American British news media. Schona Jolly is a radical Brit lawyer that supports communist dictators, Hezbollah terrorists and eco-nazis. That any news outlet would publish her opinion on anything is evidence of bias.

Good luck getting the Guardian to change its ways.

No, we're not past it. Just like we're not past hypocrisy, bias, willful blindness, agenda-seeking, prejudice, bigotry, stupidity, opportunism, ignorance, arrogance or presumptuousness (the list goes on, ad nauseam). And it's not even about Castro, Inc. or Cuba, really. It's about a pathological, visceral anti-Americanism that will always exist as long as the US retains its current status in the global scheme of things. Ultimately, it's about insecurity, jealousy and small-mindedness. It's about wanting an all-purpose excuse for inadequacies, failures and even, at times, crimes. It's about scapegoating. It's about a convenient compensatory myth: If I'm not where I'd like to be, it must be the fault of those who are, so I'll just blame and oppose them automatically at every opportunity. It's a pathetic, contemptible crock, but so many are in on it that there's safety in numbers. The anti-American card was always Castro's ace in the hole.
