And Stephen Colbert is the new Walter Cronkite
Folks, you really have to read this opinion piece by New York Times columnist Frank Rich, who is quoted all the time by the lobotomous left as some kind of genius spokesman for their cause. Here's the salient paragraph from his piece:
You know the press is impotent at unmasking this truthiness when the hardest-hitting interrogation McCain has yet faced on television came on "The View." Barbara Walters and Joy Behar called him on several falsehoods, including his endlessly repeated fantasy that Palin opposed earmarks for Alaska. Behar used the word "lies" to his face. The McCains are so used to deference from "the filter" that Cindy McCain later complained that "The View" picked "our bones clean." In our news culture, Behar, a stand-up comic by profession, looms as the new Edward R. Murrow.
Joy Behar. You read that right, folks. Joy Behar. This monument to unbridled stupidity thinks Joy Behar, an even bigger monument to unbridled stupidity, is the new Murrow. I'll leave it to all of you to make your own judgment after reading the piece.

So gushing like a school girl for Obambi and repeating Democratic Talking points for McCain is GOOD journalism for the NY SLIMES

The more they talk, the lower they sink.
There's GOT to be a serious, high-octane, concentrated abuse of controlled substances with this crowd. You can't get a more retarded cantaloupe than Behar. I've only seen her on tv once and that by chance, but everything I read confirms that the broad is cesspool material.
What a lousy way to make a living.

The George W Bush Presidential Library
The George W Bush Presidential Library is now in the planning stages.
The Library will include:
The Hurricane Katrina Room, which is still under construction.
The Alberto Gonzales Room, where you won't be able to remember anything.
The Texas Air National Guard Room, where you don't even have to show up.
The Walter Reed Hospital Room, where they don't let you in.
The Guantanamo Bay Room, where they don't let you out.
The Weapons of Mass Destruction Room, which no one has been able to find.
The National Debt room, which is huge and has no ceiling.
The 'Tax Cut' Room with entry only to the wealthy.
The 'Economy Room' which is in the toilet.
The Iraq War Room. After you complete your first tour, they make you go back for a second, third, fourth, and sometimes fifth tour.
The Dick Cheney Room, in the famous undisclosed location, complete with shotgun gallery.
The Environmental Conservation Room, still empty.
The Supremes Gift Shop, where you can buy an election.
The Airport Men's Room, where you can meet some of your favorite Republican Senators.
The 'Decider Room' complete with dart board, magic 8-ball, Ouija board, dice, coins, and straws.
The museum will have an electron microscope to help you locate the President's accomplishments

Um, I'm no fan of Frank Rich, but it should be crystal-clear that Rich is commenting on the debased state of the news media, and how it took a stand-up comedian on a silly talk show to ask a serious question.

Very cute, Kutas. Did you copy that from the Daily Kos?
Thin, reread your statement in the context of who Frank Rich is: he wants the press to be even more aggressive in its biases so that they can achieve his idea of what "fair" is.

McCain asked for it. He should have had more self-respect than to let himself be interviewed by some comic, any comic. He should also have known he'd be dealing with a distinctly agenda-driven group, who would only be out to score points off him, by means fair or foul, to make themselves and their show look good at his expense. In other words, this was bound to be the anti-Oprah-Obama experience. Bad strategy.

It's a total waste of time to argue with idiots, particularly the leftist idiots at the NYT and their ilk, so why bother?

I also know of another more authentic George W. Bush library. It contains:
The living room where Americans can live carrying on their day to day activities and can thank their lucky stars Bush was elected instead of Kerry or Gore because we have had no terrorism in this country since 9/11.
The bedroom, where Americans can sleep easier at night knowing Bush has fixed our confused and unworkable intelligence services and built up our decaying armed forces.
The kitchen where Americans can enjoy the recipes cooked up to confuse terrorist leaders that are still alive, (so many of them having gotten their wish to meet their virgins.)
The library where Americans can read great books like America Alone, Liberal Fascism, and The Case for Democracy.
The media room, where there is catalogued the low standards the msm have stooped to in their zeal to try to undermine any message and any messenger that does not spout liberal cant.
And finally, the store, where Americans get to buy the case for freedom for all human souls, even in Cuba, even in America. This is where you can buy books and articles that show you what the msm doesn't want you to know about the failure of socialism and redistribution of wealth wherever it has been tried and where you can learn about why this country should not go down that path. There will be a side room especially set aside for McCain and other rinos to tell them that when Republicans try to imitate liberals, they lose ground. The only thing that helps keep Republicans in the majority is when they are faithful to the low tax, American sovereignty, strong defense, secure borders, and smaller government ideas.
This room will have encomia for Bush, thanks for Bush for what he has accomplished in the cause of freedom and keeping the economy afloat in the face of so many difficulties. Much work will be need to keep these in print as they will continually sell out.
This will necessarily make this the largest room in the library.

Asombra, such is the state of our culture, that a candidate for the highest elected position in the country feels he has to appear on a show that, at best is an embarrassing spectacle, and at worst... you fill in the blank.

I agree that the current state of our culture is both sad and disturbing, but that doesn't mean we have to cave in to it or let it control us. I stopped watching TV (completely) years ago. I rarely bother with movies. Practically all "celebrities" are of no relevance or interest to me; they might as well not exist. McCain, of all people, should have known he was walking into an ambush, certainly hostile territory. Why give these bitches even a fraction of an inch?
