With friends like these...

Bill Clinton weighed in yesterday regarding his impression of Sarah Palin and her husband:

"I come from Arkansas, I get why she's hot out there," Clinton said. "Why she's doing well."

Speaking to reporters before his Clinton Global Initiative meeting, the former president described Palin's appeal by adding, "People look at her, and they say, 'All those kids. Something that happens in everybody's family. I'm glad she loves her daughter and she's not ashamed of her. Glad that girl's going around with her boyfriend. Glad they're going to get married.'"

Clinton said voters would think, "I like that little Down syndrome kid. One of them lives down the street. They're wonderful children. They're wonderful people. And I like the idea that this guy does those long-distance races. Stayed in the race for 500 miles with a broken arm. My kind of guy."

* * *
"I get this," Clinton said. "My view is ... why say, ever, anything bad about a person? Why don't we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket? And just say that she was a good choice for him and we disagree with them?"

Berraco Bama and his campaign strategists must be going nuts with the prospect of another month-and-a-half of Bill Clinton making the rounds and sharing his opinion of the presidential election. Liberals are annoying as hell, but they sure are fun to watch, though.

Clinton is right. Bubba was and is one of the best "politicians" of our time. As Gerald Ford noted, "He could sell you 3 day old ice, he's that good."

Bubba knows how to win elections by moving to the right as needed and by charming the Reagan dems with his good ole boy charm.

Kerry refused to listen to him in 2004 and Obama will refuse to listen to him as well. In fact, the radical left has essentially told the clinton wing of the party to piss off; now the party is controlled by the far left; the pelosi's, kerry's, deans, and obamaniacs.

the dems lose, bubba will say, "I told you so."

For a born politician like Clinton, getting elected and staying in office always trumps ideology. In other words, he's truly pragmatic (a nice way of saying opportunistic). He's not really out to change the world, just lead it.

Good Point Mike -

Obama has Axelrod - Mr. Astroturf of 2008 - for which we should be happy. With someone like Dick "Triangulation" Morris or Karl "Turd-Blossom" Rove Obama would be verrry dangerous. -S-

Well, I fully admit to having voted TWICE for Bill Clinton. I thought he governed from the center-right, which is just fine with me. He completely lost me during the Elian fiasco - I truly believe he let it get away from him and relied too heavily on that bitch Reno. The "crazies" took over (and they are now Obama advisors, they did not go to Hillary - she wasn't "left enoough for them") and the rest is history.

Obama is WAY to the left of Bill Clinton. I could never conceive of even coming close to voting for Obama. I saw the writing on the wall and switched parties a few months ago. Those in the center need not apply to the Dems anymore.

Cigar Mike,

The GOP is so lucky that you’re so right with this comment.

The part that I love the most in this election year is watching this Democratic circus eating their own.

PRICELESS!

Cangrejero de Caibarien,

So I guess you were one of those Cuban-Americans who bought Bill Clinton’s 3 day ice. I’m glad that I never did as I never liked him (and still don’t) and always saw through his bullshit act.

So when the Elian fiasco happened I was not surprised by the outcome, just furious that he got the highest percentage of Cuba-Americans vote in the 1996 elections that any other Democratic candidate had gotten in years.

Cangrejero, don't feel bad. I was so effing mad at Bush 41 for raising taxes and breaking his promise I voted for Bubba in 1992. It was the first (and last) time I voted for a Dem. Read my piece here where I try to expiate my sins. I wrote it right after the mid-term elections in 2006.

Well folks, my sins go beyond just having voted for Clinton twice! I was actually a registered Democrat until a couple of months ago. A long hangover from campaigning for Henry "Scoop" Jackson in 1976. I finally gave up hoping that party would one day return.

But I'll be damned if I am going to vote for a Huckabee-type in the future either. In local elections, I still leave my options open. Even though I am strongly pro-life, I am otherwise a social liberal. I will NEVER vote for a candidate that doesn't believe in evolution - sorry!

You don't think Hill and Bill might just want McCain to win, do you? I mean if Obi-bama wins then Hill can't run again till 2016. Plus, Obama passed over Hillary for a old, rich white dude. You don't piss off the Clintons and not get some kind of payback.

Cangrejero/George,

I almost made one political mistake while living in America but I was lucky that I could not vote in 1976 (as I wasn’t a US citizen yet) as I originally bought the 3 days old ice that Jimmy Carter sold the American people at the time because I could not stand President Ford for a variety of reasons.

Not being a USA citizen at the time prevented me for making the stupidest political vote of my whole life and I’m so glad for it, as I would be regretting my vote to this day.

Boy did I learn my lesson about believing in the peanut farmer bullshit.

Most admit that I realized very soon after he took office that he was a complete failure and with the years I realized even more that Jimmy Carter is a closet Communist as I cannot stand him at all.

Never ever have and never ever will again (not as long as I live) will buy the 3 days old ice bullshit that any Democratic Party candidate will offer me for sale.
