For the record...
We all pretty much know that the MSM is in the tank for Obama this election as the "news" coverage hasnt only been slanted, but in many cases disingenuous. Here's a quote from a press room insider posted at Instapundit:
A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS: "Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.
Since we're Cubaphiles, we're pretty much experts on slanted, disingenuous, misleading and outright false news coverage, so we tend to take the above with a "How's that fall from the turnip truck?" attitude. However, as unethical and enraging as slanted media coverage may be, the following is much much worse. From Michelle Malkin:
My dictionary defines “moderator” as “the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting.” On Thursday, PBS anchor Gwen Ifill will serve as moderator for the first and only vice presidential debate. The stakes are high. The Commission on Presidential Debates, with the assent of the two campaigns, decided not to impose any guidelines on her duties or questions. But there is nothing “moderate” about where Ifill stands on Barack Obama. She’s so far in the tank for the Democrat presidential candidate, her oxygen delivery line is running out.
In an imaginary world where liberal journalists are held to the same standards as everyone else, Ifill would be required to make a full disclosure at the start of the debate. She would be required to turn to the cameras and tell the national audience that she has a book coming out on January 20, 2009 – a date that just happens to coincide with the inauguration of the next president of the United States.
The title of Ifill’s book? “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.” Nonpartisan my foot.
"The Age of Obama."
Michelle's got much much more on this, including video of Ifill's "remarks" after Sarah Palin's acceptance speech, where disdain and disgust seep out of Ifill's every pore.
Do America a favor and contact the Commission on Presidential Debates and put pressure on to ensure that Ifill comes clean over this confict of interest prior to the debate:

Just sent this email:
To: Janet H. Brown, Executive Director of the Debates CommissionI am writing you to express my outrage that Gwen Ifill has not been removed as debate moderator for tomorrow's vice-presidential debate. Journalists are supposed to be neutral -- although we all know that's never the case. In the case of Ms. Ifill, the fact that she has a book coming out on Barack Obama is bad enough; that she did not disclose it publicly is an outrage. This is a clear conflict of interest, perceived or otherwise, that she should have fully disclosed. If you do not remove her as moderator, the VP debate will be seen as nothing more than a partisan sham.

No matter your party affiliation, you can't have a moderator that has been open about her choice for President. It would stain the debate, and many people will question the validity of her questions and remarks. It would be best to just remove her ALL TOGETHER.
I've called the number, and the phone lines are busy. I'll send an e-mail.
