About the coming elections
Upon reading the following letter my first thought was, how many times have Cubans shared their knowledge and warned the United States about evil communist doings, only to be ignored and ridiculed? If only people would listen.
Here's a gem from the inbox; pearls of wisdom:

Dear Friend:I was a teenager and a freshman in College in Cuba in 1959. Frustrated by years of corruption, abuses and fraud, most of my elders were moved and inspired by a young charismatic lawyer intent on becoming the maximum leader of our country. Seduced by his magnetic personality, they were willing to disregard the past history of this enthralling young lawyer and enthusiastically embrace his cause. They did not care about verifiable evidence that he had been a gangster at the University of Havana; that he had been one of the goons in the 1948 riots in the Bogota or that he was promising a substantial CHANGE for our nation, in fact a revolution, while most people simply wanted to get rid of a dictator. He was overwhelmingly welcomed into the highest position in our country. Within a few months after his success, most levelheaded citizens and politicians that had supported him were cast aside: José Miró Cardona, Andrés Valdespino, Raúl Chibas, Roberto Agramonte, Manuel Urrutia, and many others. Our Constitution was thrown overboard, radical laws were enacted, most liberties confiscated. A long interminable dictatorship (50 years so far) ruined our country after a class struggle that decimated our promising middle class and made everyone poor.
Now, in my mature years, I again see my adopted country frustrated by years of corruption, abuses and fraud, and I once more see that many of our reputable leaders are moved and inspired by a young charismatic lawyer intent on becoming the maximum leader of our country. Seduced by his magnetic personality, they are willing to disregard character issues in his disconcerting past history as “distractions” and are enthusiastically embracing his cause. They do not care about verifiable evidence that he was raised as a Muslim in foreign lands until he “was brought to Jesus” and converted to a radical brand of Black Liberation Christianity by a fanatic theologian, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright; the man that screamed “God Damn America,” during 20 years of chants and dances by his animated and energetic flock. Many are also willing to ignore as “distractions” his relationship with Weather Underground leaders Bernardine Dohrn and William Ayers, who as recently as 2001 declared to the New York Times that “I don't regret setting bombs; I feel we didn't do enough.” I am afraid that within a few months after Obama’s success, if it happens, most levelheaded citizens and politicians that are supporting him now would be cast aside. After all, two Supreme Court judges are due to retire in the next years or so, which means that the perplexing Obama credo will control the two legislative chambers, the executive and the judiciary branches of government.
Never mind the Clintons, the Oprah Winfreys, the middle-class “progressives,” the New York Times readers, the liberal and moderate whites who see Obama as a vindication of American democracy and “pat themselves on the back for not being prejudiced.” Never mind the hypocritical corporate moguls that are pretending to “serve the interests of ordinary people” while remaining committed to the same big business-controlled political system. They will ALL be swept aside after our self inflicted wound of electing a charming demagogue that fosters the illusion of being the messiah of bipartisan unity and a champion for the middle class.
God save and protect America!

I sent this to friends. If only Americans would take heed before we lose our country.

I also copied it and sent it to friends as it very clearly reflects my own fears. I love this Country and I want the best for it and I cannot imagine living anywhere else, so that is why this election has me so worried.

Ziva...several copies went out to family and friends. particularly to a couple of Afro-American friends who are voting for Obama/Socialist only because of color.

I posted it on my facebook page. Hopefully one of my foolish friends who is voting for "change" will wake the hell up.

This Doctor made a very valid point in his writing. History has a tendency to repeat itself. One thing this younger generation is repeating the very same thing the older generation did with John F. Kennedy, as they gave his charisma and youth more credit, rather than considering his experience, creditials, etc. I was not even living during that era!
I lived in Miami for six years and during that time I had several friends of cuban descent who have shared their childhood stories of having to leave Cuba, and what their parents experienced while adjusting at first. I have also read the book " A Cuban Story" by Marcia Del Mar, where she tells about her childhood experience of leaving Havana, and relocating to Miami.
It is heartwrenching to hear such experiences, but this country needs to hear more of if they want to keep their right and if they do not want the government to take over completely. Voting for McCain means voting for less government, letting the markets work, less taxes, lower capital gains taxes, and this party does not believe in income redistribution either and only God knows what Obama true belief is regarding religion.
