What's in a name?

Since it is Friday and it has once again been an arduous (to say the least) week, I thought I'd offer up some comedic therapy.

I think the following photo sent by reader Orlando M of a billboard for one of the candidates in a Rhode Island State Senate race pretty much...um...speaks for itself:

Ahem...On a roll...

Now that's a candidate that's really going to play hard-ball.

Parumpah!

We'll be here all week, folks!

I also heard his first name is Richard.

Middle name is Johnson, I believe.

I wonder if he's related to any bloggers of our acquaintance...

He's got the women vote!

Posted by: j2tharome [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 11:11 AM

Oh yes, J2, he's quite popular with them.

Posted by: CubaWatch [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 11:12 AM

But not the radical lesbo feminist vote!

Funny thing, the race was so contested that he won "by a hair" and his opponent demanded a recount.

Posted by: La Ventanita [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 11:54 AM

BTW, he's a Democrat.

Its great to start payday Friday with a laugh. HA-Ha. Hi.hi. ho-ho.

Got be a commie

Posted by: Doorgunner [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 12:08 PM

Why is the stock market falling like a piano? simple, a commie is taking over America

Posted by: Doorgunner [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 12:09 PM

He's going to be hard to beat. Especially since he is known to stand up for his constituents.

Too bad his name is not La Pinga. It still works though. If you are going to his house, you say "me voy para casa de Pinga". And if they ask you immediately after, Who's house? La casa de quien? You just say, de Pinga! Quien? de Pinga carajo! It's working, lol!!

Bumper sticker:

PINGA WILL STAND UP FOR YOU

Posted by: BarrioChino [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 01:23 PM

I thought he was the Senator from Illinois not Rhode Island that was running for President

Didn't surnames start as a description of your birthplace, your job, a particular quality or achievement? e.g. da Vinci, Cooper, Smith

What do the "9" stand for?

Posted by: Ray [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 04:00 PM

De Pinga el caso. Does Barney Frank "back" him?

Posted by: mrcs_Concepcion [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 07:22 PM

The 9 is the district, I'm sure.

And yes Barney Frank is on top of this matter, or rather on the bottom.

A little late but I've been chomping at the bit with these (I can't post from work)

The matriarch of the family: Mama Pinga

For his first job out of school, he worked at a bilingual office. The managers were discussing which of the junior employees should be sent with a senior representative on a business trip to meet an important client. One of them just said, "Manda Pinga."

Campaign slogans rejected by a Cuban-American campaign staffer:

-Pinga, a Democrat who lives up to his name
-Pinga for growth
-Pinga will rise to meet any challenge

Mike Pinga is a baker, which explains the "on a roll" reference. Now I can see why you all think this is so funny; a pinga usually comes in a bun, no?
