That's not the ACORN I knew... - UPDATED
Once again, the hapless Berracko Obama has been fooled by what he originally thought were nice people. It seems that ACORN, the voter fraud machine running rampant through America, is not the ACORN the poor Berracko thought it was. So, just like Wright, and Ayers, and Resko, and the many other associations that were not really associations even though he was associated with them, but not really associated because if you were to say they were associated you would then be considered a racist and associated with racists, ACORN has now joined the ever-increasing list of people and organizations Berracko is distancing himself from.
The Obama campaign is now distancing itself from Acorn, claiming Mr. Obama never organized with it and has nothing to do with illegal voter registration. Yet it's disingenuous to channel cash into an operation with a history of fraud and then claim you're shocked to discover reports of fraud. As with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers, Mr. Obama was happy to associate with Acorn when it suited his purposes. But now that he's on the brink of the Presidency, he wants to disavow his ties.

UPDATE
Two comments left on this post point out that the fake registrations being turned in by ACORN are fake voters that cannot vote and therefore only harm Obama. That is a bit hard to swallow when one of these fake registrations has already been caught in Ohio casting a fraudulent vote.
Investigators probing ACORN have learned that an Ohio man registered to vote several times and cast a bogus ballot with a fake address, officials said yesterday, as they revealed that nearly 4,000 registration applications supplied by the left-leaning activist group were suspect.
You can read the rest of that story HERE.

I suppose it would be in bad form to point out that fake voters don't actually vote.
So if ACORN is as bad as they're made out to be, the candidate they're actually harming is OBAMA, not McCain....

You took the words right out my mouth Eric. Obama's hardly the first politician to work with/contribute to ACORN and then run away. When I lived in Michigan, countless pols got caught up in the "ACORN saw". My sister used to work for them in Cincinnati, Ohio. She said they sound so good on first and second glance, then you start to see how they are vote hustlers that run has daily goals on voter registrations. It's like sales on commissions. If people can work an angle to get more than necessary, they will. That's what my sister hated.
And as Eric mentions, this hurts Obama more than McCain because of the demographic. But as a whole, ACORN is a bad seed that MANY politicians have used, abused, and/or got burned by (knowingly and unknowingly).

Well, Eric and T-Steel, I wish you were both right. But it seems we're now seeing the fruits of ACORNs labor. An Ohio man has been busted casting a bogus vote, and guess who registered him fraudulently?
This is just the beginning. The first worm of the many worms that are going to be coming out of this can in the next few weeks. Read it here.

Well the good thing is that he was caught. I know here in Georgia, you need to show your driver's license or state ID card in order to cast a vote. I unsure of how Ohio works but I do hope that they catch any and all attempts to defraud the system.

What about absentee ballots?

People aren't realizing that in many cases, especially in Ohio, that the fraudulent registrations participated in a same day "register and vote early program".
It's worse than just being fraudulent registrations - in many cases each of these fraudulent registrations also represents a vote that has been cast in early balloting.

So, doesn't it just beg the question:
If this guy gets voted into the highest office in the land and then follow his "let's just discuss things rationally" plan when dealing with terrorists, doesn't it seem likely he'll back-peddle with, "Oops.. They were TERRORISTS?? No one told me!"

We can always count on you, Thin, to give us some liberal perspective on the issue. But I fail to see how an editorial by a blogger provides such perspective.
ACORN is under federal investigation in several states. Also, as I posted, they have already caught someone trying to vote using one of their fraudulent registrations. Yet the best your side comes up with is that Republicans are trying to suppress the vote of these illegal voters.

You can keep trying to make this about "sides." No one's listening in your echo chamber. You're preaching to the choir on this site. If you hope to convert voters to the evils of Obama, you gotta stop insulting their intelligence.

Well, Thin, I suggest you get out of my "echo chamber" because obviously, you are listening to me.
But in all seriousness, I offer you my sincerest apologies, Thin. It was not my intention to insult you. I just have a nasty habit of forgetting that liberals have an aversion to facts; it's like kryptonite--it makes them all woozy and sick. I can see how you would find facts insulting, but I can't help but to use them.
Sorry.
