Perez Roque: "McCain Makes Me Wanna Vomit!"
“McCain makes me want to vomit! He is a disgusting dinasour! But Obama is a very decent person and he has declared that he will sit down to talk with us without pre-conditions.”
Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez-Roque said this during an interview with CNN espanol on a visit to New York this Wednesday 10/29/08. The New York Times and AP reported exhaustively on the Cuban minister's visit and declarations at the United Nations against the "U.S. blockade", but somehow omitted that snappy soundbite, a seemingly ideal morsel for today's journalism.
Imagine Anastasio Somoza visiting New York in 1976 and declaring that "Jimmy Carter makes me wanna vomit! But Gerald Ford is a very decent person." Imagine South African president Pik Botha visiting the U.S in 1984 and declaring "Mondale makes me wanna vomit! But Mr Reagan is a very decent person."
Think the MSM might have reported these?
Here's a video of Roque's elegant statement (in Spanish):

Is it really necessary to be intentionally dishonest in translating statements? The guy is a communist, is it even necessary to go out of your way to add lies to make him seem even more ugly? The truth is something important, it represents respect towards the people you are speaking with.
"Las palabras del señor McCain me repugnan. Me recuerdan un dinosaurio político, repitiendo ideas gastadas, y mensajes vacíos. . . El señor Obama ha sido más respetuoso en sus declaraciones hacia Cuba; ha dicho incluso que estaría dispuesto a sentarse sin precondiciones, que estaría dispuesto a favorecer los viajes de los cubanos que viven aquí a ver a sus familias en Cuba, enviarle ayuda económica. Ha tenido, digamos, una posición mas sensata, constructiva."
The words of Mr. McCain repulse me. They remind me of a political dinosaur, repeating wasted ideas and empty messages . . . Mr. Obama has been more respectful in his declarations towards Cuba; he has even said that he would be disposed to favor the travel of Cubans who live here to see their families in Cuba, to send them economic assistance. He has had, we can say, a more sensible and constructive position.

Whoops, I forgot to include the part where he says about Obama "he would be disposed to sit down without preconditions" (honest mistake!)

Perez Roque looks like a white monkey anyway.
