Paulito “El Chico Bonito de Cuba” professes admiration for el comandante
In a GenTV press release sent today, the channel says Paulito admitted admiration for the dictator in an interview with Patricia Arbulu on the show Entre Nos.
"Believing in (f)idel to a certain point has been fortunate,'' he said. "All our lives we have been people who have believed in the comandante and we have lived peacefully and honorably making our artistic dreams. If I have been able to make my music in my country, it's because (f)idel has not tricked me, and because the system permitted it.''The channel says the interview did not last much longer.
He did not last the hour as a guest on Entre Nos because he walked out of the studios where the show is taped, because the popular Peruvian presenter asked the singer tough questions after said declarations.
Paulito is scheduled to perform at La Covacha Friday night, at Kaffe Krystal on Saturday and Club Rancho Grande in Hialeah on Sunday.
He was supposed to perform last week at La Covacha but encountered visa problems, so the show was canceled. His handlers say he last performed locally a decade ago. The 90's salsa star now lives in Italy.
Univision has the story, and you can watch the clip at GenTV. Click on Sala de Videos at the top of the page, and then choose the show Entre Nos. You'll see the link on the right.

Even worse than that were the comments made by the miserable agent of this guy, next day at Paparazzi, a program in Mega-TV. Go to Penúltimos Días and click in El Video del Día to see it. Warning: it raised my blood pressure but it's very revealing on how this crap coming now from Cuba sees the exile. TE DAN ASCO.

Why did he move to Italy and made it his home? Second, knowing that Miami is full of Cubans who are against Castro, why is he here and be so stupid? I can imagine that there are many like him who left Cuba for the money but are sympathetic to Castro and the system. He should be pelted with tomatoes or eggs at the airport before he goes back to Italy.

Paulito did not "move" to Italy. He lives between Italy, and Havana where he OWNS a mansion (along with an Audi). He's free to travel anywhere he wants when he wants. He's definitely not one of US.

This guy (en su casa lo conocen) is just one more of the many OPPORTUNISTS in Castro's Cuba ... devoid of any ethics or principles ... who have no interest in CAMBIO/CHANGE in the island.
I wish you well :) Melek

The Money Quote by Paulito -
"...because the system PERMITTED IT." Think about that for even a second. What about a SYSTEM where "permission" is an ASSUMPTION, where a ban is the rare exception. -S-

I am more upset with his producer than with this obvious idiot. I really don't care where he lives or who he is, ignorance is the best way to deal with these folks. I really believe that any publicity is good publicity, the noise will only make curious folks go out and want to buy some of his music just to see if he's any good.
His producer on the other hand is one bafoon I'd like to see before me. You see he's been living in Miami for 15 years. I'd ask him why he hates a generation of Cubans so much when he should know that they're the ones who tread the way, so that he could make a buck in this community without speaking a lick of English. The guy's an asshole.
