Cigar Mike,
So far what is the most intriguing about President elect Obama is that if he has not taken the office yet and is already betraying his base.
God only knows what he's going to do to the rest of us if he's doing this to the ones that gave him the most support.
I for one don't buy that bullshit that he's a centrist or that he has gone through a quick metamorphosis.
I feel that at one point he'll take the mask off and reveal his true colors.
We'll see when that happens.

I'm with FFC, we need to wait a bit more. I still don't trust him and believe he's lulling us to sleep with some of these measured selections for his cabinet. I hope I'm wrong, but my gut just won't settle down. As for these morons on the left, they are so out of the mainstream that they actually consider former Clintonites to be 'neoliberals', that's pathetic, and far from the truth. In fact, you can lay the 9/11 attacks squarely on the Clinton administration for acting like every Democratic administration since FDR - they're gutless cowards who will never effectively defend this country. Once again, lets wait and see on the O-Man...

I disagree on all Dem admins being gutless since FDR. Truman had more balls than any Prez since. Truman did not cower when he had to decide to use the A-Bomb and he did not cower to go into Korea even though it was not a popular war. And he gave us the Truman Doctrine, the Marshall Plan, etc.

"Where's their messiah now, see? Where's there Jesus now?"
I spoke to one of my best friends today, who happens to be gay and latino and of course voted for Obama. I asked him "Can you believe the slap in the face he just gave to the gay community?" All he could say is that it was better than McCain/Palin and that Obama is trying to get conservatives on his side. I said if he thinks an anti-gay pastor at his inauguration is going to make us fall in love with Obama, he is clearly delusional.

Mike, Sorry dude, but I'll disagree on Truman. Not as bad a DEM as what came after, but he wouldn't let McArthur pull the trigger on the Chinese during the Korean War. In conflict, DEMs shudder at going all the way to fix things once and for all. If Truman hadn't pulled back on the Chicoms when we went all the way to their border, we might have a unified democratic, pro-US Korea today. As long as we stayed in Korea, I very seriously doubt the Soviets would have done anything because a unified Korea would not have been a threat to either the Chicoms or the Soviets.

Mambi,
I agree with you regarding Truman not allowing McArthur to pull the trigger on China. In my view it was a major blunder that let to the VietNam conflict.
Fifty plus years later we see the consequenses of Truman not taking action against the Chinese when he had to.
Trust me if we have a big conflict with either China or North Korea (at the rate they're going)in the next twenty years we'll regret Truman's decision even more.
