Was George Patton Assasinated?
"We destroyed what could have been a great people (Germans) and replaced them them with Mongol Savages (Bolsheviks)" Thus spake Gen. George Patton in his diaries. This was an extremely discomfiting view for Allied leaders at the end of WWII.
An interesting book and article here.
By the way, the publishers of this book published my Fidel Book --and believe me--their legal dept., while determining veracity, etc. , looks very closely at footnotes and other documentation.
So just 'wonderin......?"

I sincerely doubt that Ike or Gen. Marshall would have put a hit on Patton. It's a perverse theory and counter to who Ike was. Ike and Patton were the pioneers of tank warfare when they were in West Point and in their first commissions.
Now was he bumped off by a soviet mole? that would seem more plausible, but not with US Backing.

That Ike would have Patton bumped off strikes me every bit as insane as the notion that Castro DID NOT have Camilo and Che bumped off.
But the Soviet NKVD angle on Patton's death intrigues me?

You never know......
Look at the history events that have taken place for the last 63 years since Patton died.
Nothing surprises me anymore; I think this year has been prime example of that.

Castro has no soul Ike did. Not a fair comparison. Castro would bump off his own mom. Castro thirsted power. Not Ike. Makes no sense that Ike would bump off one of his generals to appease the Soviets. Sorry but the theory is a bit insane.
Ike was a deeply religious square who owed Patton for Patton's successful plan in reaching the Rhine.

I wouldn't go around mentioning that the people who published this book also published yours. This is worse than the John Birch Society branding Eisenhower a communist agent. How can anyone take this seriously? Especially after the source has been dead for almost ten years! This isn't even a deathbed confession this is almost a William Casey/Bob Woodward type confession.
Eisenhower was afraid Patton would resign? Insane! The only reason Patton was where he was, was thanks to Ike. Everyone and their grandmother knew Patton had been talking of resigning. I love Patton but even the sympathetic bio by Carlo D'Este notes that towards the end Patton's erratic behavior was disconcerting to many. His anti-semitic statements, his flippant behavior towards the former Nazis and his willingness to start a war with the Russians on his own. He was right about Russia but you can't plunge a country on your own. Patton spoke of retiring before he died and spoke of it openly. None of this is to take away from the achievements of the man. A man like Patton is made for war - a war that he helped win more than most. He was just ill-suited for peace.

I believe that Patton was assasinatied in a collaborative effort between the Soviet Government and US OSS. General Patton was seen as dangerous to the Soviets as hey attempted to expand their empite through Eastern Europe. Stalin was not above having his enemies assasinated as history has shown. I do believe there was involvement of the OSS. Donovan believed that Patton was a dangerous lunatic that needed to be eliminated.

what you "believe" and what actually occured are two different things. Patton could not act alone and depended on Ike for his job - he posed zero threat to anyone but himself. It was tragic, it was sad, but it happened - end of story. Gen. Patton was a great man but even great men can die senseless deaths. Just to name two look at Alexander the Great and Stonewall Jackson.
Incidentally what other prominent Americans did Stalin have no problem killing. Killing within his sphere or obvious enemies (Trotsky) were eliminated. Having just nailed Hitler the Soviets weren't even thinking about Patton at that point. They knew nothing was going to happen
