Idiot Liberals and the SCHIP Tax

All the lefty panty wipes are cheering the House passage of the SCHIP. The prior versions of the bill which were vetoed contained a $3 per stick tax on cigars; or a tax of $ 75 on a box of cigars. In essence, the old bill would have put an entire industry out of business and in turn this purported revenue they want to raise for children would not be there. These s*it-for brain-liberals just don't get it that if no one buys the product, no tax is collected, and hence no revenue is collected, and thus program is not funded. This precept seems so simple but for the tax-my-fart nanny state liberal buttmunches, they just don't get it and never will. (Note, even my liberal cigar smoking buddies oppose this tax. That should tell you something.)
In any event, the cigar lobby was successful in eliminating the $ 3 tax on large cigars which should make us happy. And it does. But the bill still raises taxes on cigars to 40 cents per stick:
(2) LARGE CIGARS- Paragraph (2) of section 5701(a) of such Code is amended--(A) by striking ‘20.719 percent (18.063 percent on cigars removed during 2000 or 2001)’ and inserting ‘52.4 percent’, and
(B) by striking ‘$48.75 per thousand ($42.50 per thousand on cigars removed during 2000 or 2001)’ and inserting ‘40 cents per cigar’.
In essence, a box of cigars will be taxed an additional $ 10 under this bill which is still too high.
This bill if it passes the senate will be signed by President Obama (even though he'll have to pay more for his smokes). So all these pansies are saying, "this is so great. We'll be able to insure the children." Really? So why am I pissed you ask? Well, the reason is that the money raised on these new taxes will not fund what these panty wipes want to fund.
But here’s the problem…the percentage of Americans who smoke has been dropping for decades. And research and logic both show that raising the prices of cigarettes will lead to less smoking.
The Democrats would need to recruit 22.4 million new smokers by 2017 to keep funding their Medicaid and SCHIP expansion.
At the same time the funding base will decline, SCHIP costs will increase exponentially. SCHIP costs increased 10 percent in 2007 and 18 percent in 2008. CBO predicts that SCHIP spending will more than double under the Democrats’ proposal. Couple that with a drop in revenue from decreased smoking and the gap between program spending and revenue becomes staggering—a gap Democrats will ask the American taxpayer to fill.
Short of finding at least 22.4 million new smokers (the number required to adequately fund SCHIP) Democrats will be forced to either kick millions of children off of health insurance or raise taxes on all of us by tens of billions of dollars.
In addition, the bill, if it becomes law, would greatly expand the program and enable undocumented immigrants, adults without children, wealthier families, and children who already have private insurance to enroll into SCHIP which undermines the original concept behind this law (which was passed by a GOP Congress BTW).
Who knows, maybe Obama will take up smoking again and advertise to the largest group of smokers, in the poor communities, and encourage them to take up smoking...maybe that will give them the funding, huh?
Their logic is akin to taxing horse and buggies based on the amount of horse s*it they produce during the automobile revolution.
Now of course if you really want to piss of the left, then we should enact the pothead tax which imposes a $ 75 tax on all potheads per 1/2 ounce of pot purchased and a $ 10 tax on bongs and paraphernalia. Since the libs won't voluntarily pay the tax, we'll institute mandatory drug testing on everyone and anyone who has a positive result for weed, will automatically be taxed. Since the average liberal consumes at least an ounce a week, then they could be assessed an annual pothead tax of $ 1,800 per year. Unlike cigarettes, the amount of potheads among the left is increasing and/or remaining stable. Since the left would rather eat their children than part with their dope (and they're very fond of their children), this would surely be a way to raise the amount of money this program needs and us law abiding right wing cigar smokers can enjoy our cigars in peace.
I'm Cigar Mike and I approve this rant.
PS: What's the over/under that some penis breath lefty will link to this article with the caption, "Right wingers against helping children?" Which is how they love to spin things. Under their mindset, if we opposed public defecation, they would spin our position by saying, "Right wingers opposed to allowing the poor to enjoy their quality of life." Why do you think they call them people "dopes."

Let this be a lesson for all of you who call yourselves "conservatives" that when you permit the government to stick its hand into one legal business and impose confiscatory taxes, you open the door for them to do it to all. With all due repect, anyone in favor of tobacco regulation and taxation for health reasons is a deluded fool and a tool of the liberals.

Now I'm really pissed.
I have a really nasty (but tasty) Nestor Miranda maduro. I'm going to smoke it in front of one of my liberal friends this weekend.

The most bothersome part of this for me is that those who can easily afford a basic health plan are going to sit back and let the government (i.e. taxpayers) take care of them instead. Any honest person should be more than disappointed with that prospect.
