Thirteen centuries

Here’s a audio recording of Brian Cosgrove dying on the 105th floor of 2 World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 as he spoke to 911 emergency services in New York.

I post this so that all of us know who we are fighting. There is nothing new here. In one way or another, Islam, with its many flavors and incarnations, has been at war with the West for thirteen centuries. Roughly, since about the year 800 A.D., when Islam began its conquests of the Arabian peninsula, Persia, the Indian subcontinent, and North Africa.

No one should be surprised at the action of the terrorists that killed our ambassador and four others in Libya last week then. Shame on you if you are. If you think a movie caused this, you are a fool. And, if you think they can be reasoned with, you are an even bigger fool.

This is, as Mark Steyn brilliantly described in his book, America Alone, nothing less than a clash of civilizations.

Friend or Foe: Who Goes There and Who Doesn’t Go There

Obama has turned down a request for a meeting next week from Israeli PM Netanyahu. Yet, he has invited Egypt’s newly elected Muslim Brotherhood president to the White House next week.

I guess that is when Obama will decide if the new Egypt he built will be considered an ally or an enemy…

That’s funny, because prior to being Sprung, Egypt WAS an ally to the U.S., and a quiet neighbor to Israel.

Hmm, sounds like maybe a missed opportunity for another Jimmy Carter moment for Obama.

Obama acted stupidly (my words) on Telemundo but … Mitt Romney’s dog! … Mitt Romney’s tax returns! Paul Ryan’s running time!

So glad he has good old Joe Biden as his wingman…

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: U.S. Policy Towards Castro Regime, Human Rights In Cuba

U.S. Policy Towards Castro Regime, Human Rights In Cuba Focus Of Ros-Lehtinen Meeting With State Department Official

(WASHINGTON) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today issued the following statement after meeting with Raymond McGrath, the new Coordinator for Cuban Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Also in the meeting were the other members of the Cuban American Congressional Delegation in the House of Representatives. Chairman Ros-Lehtinen pressed Mr. McGrath on the Administration’s failed policy towards the Castro tyranny, recent developments in the island, including the death of Oswaldo Paya, the hunger strike by Marta Beatriz Roque, Jose Luis Garcia Perez “Antunez” and other pro democracy activists; as well as the continued unjust incarceration of the U.S. citizen Alan Gross. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“During our meeting with Mr. McGrath we brought up the many troubling aspects of this Administration’s failed Cuba policy. What does it take for President Obama to realize that his outreach towards the Castro brothers has not produced one iota of positive news for U.S. interests? After 3 years of appeasement and diplomatic niceties, the Castro brothers continue to undermine our foreign policy at every opportunity they get, they continue to grossly and systematically violate the human rights of the Cuban people and Alan Gross languishes in a Castro jail on trumped up charges.

“The regime in 2012 is as repressive as ever. Since the tyrant Raul Castro took over the reins of power from his brother Fidel there has been a marked increase in the persecution and illegal jailing of the brave pro democracy activists.

“The Obama Administration’s policy towards the Castro brothers has only provided an economic lifeline to the dictatorship. It is my sincere hope that Mr. McGrath can succeed where some others before him have failed and that is to work to focus U.S. efforts on precipitating a transition to democratic rule in Cuba as articulated in U.S. law.”

With Friends Like Obama…

You would think that after his party’s ugly platform vote on the floor of the DNC convention Obama would at least try to show he was sincere in his support of Israel by having a meeting requested by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. But no

The White House’s response marks a new low in relations between Netanyahu and Obama, underscored by the fact that this is the first time Netanyahu will visit the U.S. as prime minister without meeting Obama.

The White House declined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request on Tuesday to meet U.S. President Barack Obama during a UN conference in New York at the end of the month.

An official in Jerusalem said that the prime minister’s office sent the White House a message stating that although Netanyahu will spend only two and a half days on U.S. soil, he is interested in meeting Obama and is willing to travel to the U.S. capital specifically for that purpose. The official added that the White House rejected the request and said that at this time Obama’s schedule does not allow for a meeting.

The White House’s response marks a new low in relations between Netanyahu and Obama, underscored by the fact that this is the first time Netanyahu will visit the U.S. as prime minister without meeting the president.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak tried to ease the tension on Tuesday, saying that the differences between the U.S. and Israel should be ironed out “but behind closed doors.”

“We must not forget that the U.S. is Israel’s most important source of support in terms of security,” he said in a statement.

Earlier on Tuesday, Netanyahu launched an unprecedented verbal attack on the U.S. government over its stance on the Iranian nuclear program.

“The world tells Israel ‘wait, there’s still time’. And I say, ‘Wait for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel,” Netanyahu told reporters on Tuesday.

“Now if Iran knows that there is no red line. If Iran knows that there is no deadline, what will it do? Exactly what it’s doing. It’s continuing, without any interference, towards obtaining nuclear weapons capability and from there, nuclear bombs,” he said.

U.S. Department of State spokeswoman Victoria Nuland stressed again on Tuesday that the U.S. administration doesn’t see public discussion of Iranian nuclear program and red lines as useful. “We don’t think it’s particularly useful to have those conversations in public. It doesn’t help the process and it doesn’t help the integrity of the diplomacy. To be standing here at the podium parsing the details of the Iranian nuclear program is not helpful to getting where we want to go,” she said, briefing the media.

Did you know that the Obama administration has aided Egypt in purchasing U-boats from Germany?

President Barack Obama’s deputies are negotiating a $1 billion aid package with Egypt’s new Islamist government, even as Egypt’s cash-strapped military revealed that it is trying to buy $1 billion worth of German submarines that could threaten Israel’s fast-growing offshore energy projects.

The German government has pointedly declined to deny the incendiary revelation about Egypt’s request to buy the two submarines.

Instead, the German government offered vague support for Israel, which is facing renewed threats from Iran’s nuclear program and the Muslim Brotherhood’s rise to power in Egypt.

“There has been no change in the German government’s position towards Israel, in the commitment the German government feels towards Israel’s security,” a spokesman for Germany’s chancellor told Der Speigel, a major German newspaper.

State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland did not respond to an inquiry by The Daily Caller.

The submarine purchase will likely be an issue in the U.S. election, because both parties are vying for support from a relatively large concentration of swing-voting Jewish Americans in Florida.

And not to be left out, the U.N. has scheduled Iranian president, (and the world’s top Israel-hater), Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s address to the United Nations in two weeks on one of Israel’s holiest days, Yom Kippur.

Lying About Lying … The Tale Of Two Tapes

Lots of background on this back and forth today between Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the Israeli ambassador to the United States Michael Oren at The Washington Examiner.

However, The Washington Examiner is using Debbie Wasserman Scultz’s own audio to counter her claim that the news site lied. You be the judge (starting at around the 00:28 mark)…

I would say this is a pretty messy situation the Congresswoman and DNC Chairwoman has gotten herself into. But she’s a democrat, so the media will just let this slide and hide.

Letter from ECI Chairman William Kristol to President Obama

President Obama’s re-election campaign now includes a group, Rabbis for Obama to help shore up the Jewish vote.   William Kristol, founder and editor of  The Weekly Standard knows, as more and more members of the Jewish community are realizing, that Obama’s policy toward Israel has not continued the traditional U.S. position as an ally of the Jewish state. In fact, while Obama audaciously declares his support for Israel, his policies, and the Jew’s he chooses to associate with say the opposite.

William Kristol is also the Chairman of ECI, the Emergency Committee for Israel.

The Emergency Committee for Israel is committed to mounting an active defense of the US-Israel relationship by educating the public about the positions of political candidates on this important issue, and by keeping the public informed of the latest developments in both countries. Join us to help support Israel and her many friends here in the United States.

Today ECI released a letter to President Obama on the inclusion of numerous anti-Israel figures in his campaign’s “Rabbis for Obama” group.

Dear Mr. President:

This week, your campaign launched a group called “Rabbis for Obama.” The “Rabbis for Obama,” your campaign says, are “committed to re-electing” you due to your “policy agenda that represents the values of the overwhelming majority of the American Jewish community” and your “deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel.”

Though we have differed with you on many policy matters, we at the Emergency Committee for Israel have taken you at your word as to your basic commitment to Israel’s security. Thus it was particularly shocking to see that your campaign had recruited, and was touting the support of, rabbis who have no commitment to Israel’s security, and whose values are representative of a small and extreme group of anti-Israel activists – and certainly not of the pro-Israel community.

“Rabbis for Obama” includes many leaders of the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) Movement, a movement inimical to Israel’s well-being. It includes founders of the pro-Hamas “Fast for Gaza” initiative. It even includes one person who was pleased to dine with Iranian President Ahmadinejad in 2008 and another who says the United States and Israel bring terrorism on themselves. Several members of “Rabbis for Obama” are officials of Jewish Voice for Peace, a radical group that the Anti-Defamation League featured in its list of the “Top 10 Anti-Israel Groups in America.”

Far from demonstrating a “deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel,” these figures have demonstrated a deep hostility to the state of Israel and a deep commitment to demonizing the Jewish state and undermining the U.S.-Israel alliance. We are sure that you will be distressed to discover that your own campaign has included so many of them on the list of “Rabbis for Obama.” We cannot imagine their endorsements are ones you welcome.

This is, as you have pointed out, a particularly perilous time for the people of Israel. We trust you do not want, however inadvertently, to signal in any way a lack of commitment to Israel’s security or a lack of concern for Israel’s well-being. So we look forward to your repudiation of the anti-Israel figures among the “Rabbis for Obama.” And we respectfully suggest that you have an urgent and serious conversation with whoever in your campaign thought it appropriate to trumpet their support as a way of making your case to the pro-Israel community.

William Kristol

H/T:  Honey

Why have so many Jewish socialists abandoned their people and heritage?

I’ve struggled seeking an answer to that question, as have others here at Babalú.  Robert Wistrich, Hebrew University professor of European and Jewish History, and the leading scholar on anti-Semitism , recently published From Ambivalence to Betrayal:  The Left, the Jews, and Israel.

In his review, Isi Leibler concludes:  “This is a magisterial work, providing a comprehensive understanding of the origins of the most pernicious challenges currently facing the Jewish people, especially those originating from the enemy within. It will be especially valuable to those directly engaged in the struggle to neutralize the evil efforts against Israel by the left-Islamic alliance and its acolytes of Jewish origin.”

It’s not just the security of Israel that is endangered by the alliance of the left and radical Jihadists; the survival of Western Civilization is at stake.  This scholarly work is a must read for those of us desiring greater knowledge and understanding of that enemy.  I can’t wait to get  my copy.

The entire review here and below the fold, from

It is an impressive tome of over 600 pages and follows his monumental seminal work “A Lethal Obsession: Anti-Semitism from Antiquity to the Global Jihad”, published in 2010 and now recognized as the definitive work on the world’s oldest hatred and an indispensable text for scholars.

In a fascinating preface to his new book, Wistrich provides a brief autobiographical sketch. His father had originally been a supporter of the illegal Polish Communist Party in pre-war Cracow but became alienated from Stalinist communism after being arrested by the NKVD. He and his wife, who had experienced bitter Polish anti-Semitism, survived the Holocaust by fleeing to Kazakhstan where Robert was born.

Wistrich was educated in England, and to use his words, was “radicalized” in grammar school and later at Stanford University. He first visited Israel in 1961, returning in 1969 when he was appointed editor of the left wing Israeli journal, New Outlook. However his passion for the Jewish State led to a parting of the ways with the Israeli far left. Robert became increasingly engaged in academic scholarship related to anti-Semitism, received a senior appointment at the Hebrew University, and is now recognized as the world’s foremost scholar in the field.

From Ambivalence to Betrayalis an historic review and analysis of the abandonment of the Jewish people by the left from the early 19th century until the present. It also relates to the extraordinarily disproportionate number of socialist thinkers and leaders who were of Jewish origin and seeks to explain what motivated so many of them, in the course of their utopian and futile efforts to ‘repair the world’, to abandon their people and their heritage and frenetically seek to deny their kinsmen the right to self-determination.

The introductory essay is a brilliant overview of the contemporary Jewish political arena viewed in the context of the concurrent rise of Zionism, Communism, anti-Semitism and Nazism. It focuses strongly on the hypocrisy of the existing left which has become obsessed with demonization and delegitimization of the Jewish state. Wistrich demonstrates the extent to which today’s radical anti-Zionists, despite purporting to represent the left, often share the identical obsessions and delusions concerning the alleged malignant influence of the Jews in the modern world as classical fascist anti-Semites.

“My Name is Guri Weinberg and I am the Son of Moshe Weinberg, the Wrestling Coach Murdered at the 1972 Olympics … I am Not Going Away”

Guri Weinberg has choice words for the IOC and its snubbing of the victims and families of the 1972 Munich Olympics Massacre

Recently, new information about the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympic Games was released by German police as a result of pressure from German investigative reporters. It was reported that the “Black September” terrorists were helped by a Nazi group in Germany to get fake IDs, weapons and access to the Olympic Village.

This was not too shocking, as the head of the IOC in 1972 was Avery Brundage, a Nazi sympathizer and anti-Semite. His protege, Juan Samaranch, eventually served the second longest IOC term as president, but his support of Nazis and the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco was kept a dirty secret. Most IOC members knew the truth but stayed silent because he organized a regal lifestyle for them — with money diverted from sport.

Another interesting fact is that Abu Iyad, one of the co-founders of the PLO, has said publicly that the reason “Black September” chose the 1972 Olympics as the stage for their hostage plot was because the PLO’s request to the IOC for inclusion of the Palestinian delegation at the Olympic Games was completely ignored. This snub from the IOC came at a time when tension was at a boiling point in the Middle East. Yet, having incited the PLO, the IOC denied the Israeli government’s request for security for the athletes.

In 1996, I, along with other Munich orphans and three of the widows, were invited for the first time to the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Before the Opening Ceremony, we met with Alex Gilady. Gilady has been a member of the IOC’s Radio and Television Commission since 1984 and has been the senior vice president of NBC Sports since 1996.

I have known Mr. Gilady since I was a kid; in fact, I grew up with his daughter. He had been supportive in the past regarding our plea for a moment of silence during the Opening Ceremonies, so we arrived with high hopes. Gilady informed us that a moment of silence was not possible because if the IOC had a moment of silence for the Israeli athletes, they would also have to do the same for the Palestinians who died at the Olympics in 1972.

My mother said, “But no Palestinian athletes died.”

Gilady responded, “Well, there were Palestinians who died at the 1972 Olympics.”

I heard one of the widows say to Gilady, “Are you equating the murder of my husband to the terrorists that killed him?”

Then Ilana Romano burst out with a cry that has haunted me to this day. She screamed at Gilady, “How DARE you! You KNOW what they did to my husband! They let him lay there for hours, dying slowly, and then finished him off by castrating him and shoving it in his mouth, ALEX!”

I looked at Gilady’s face as he sat there, stone cold with no emotion. This man knew these athletes personally. This man led the Israeli media delegation at the 1972 Olympics and saw this atrocity first hand. This man saw my father’s dead, naked body thrown out front of the Olympic Village for all the world to see.

Without a hint of empathy, Gilady excused himself from our meeting.

The Olympics: Remembering Munich … Or Not

Every Olympics (summer or winter) NBC treats us to the background stories on the athletes participating in the games. Sometimes I get the feeling it’s a rub-your-nose-in-it-you-selfish-decadent-Americans tone, mostly when it deals with an athlete from a foreign country. (If I had to hear the heart-tugging story of orphaned and abandoned young Russian figure skater Oksana Baiul one more time I was going to scream.) Anyhow, I typically do not mind the back-stories. It takes one hell of an effort, perseverance, and fortitude to fight to this level of competition on a word stage, especially if you come from an impoverished background or nation. I also recall a mention, one winter games, of Team USA’s hockey team giving hockey tape and other supplies/gear to another country’s team (it might have been Russia’s team after the fall of the USSR) that was so short on funding they were struggling just to get their team on the ice for matches. THAT’S what it’s supposed to be about. That is the spirit of the games. Yes, the individual personal stories really are important and pertinent to the international games. So, by all means, let’s hear them. The Munich Massacre is, itself, a background story of the Olympics.

However, the IOC’s bristling resistance to acknowledging and honoring the 11 Israeli athletes and coaches killed in Munich at the summer games 40 years ago, what I view as one of the world’s first deadly terror attacks, has been astonishing. The IOC President Jacques Rogge paid slim tribute within the athletes’ village in London in a moment of silence

“I would like to start today’s ceremony by honoring the memory of the 11 Israeli Olympians who shared the ideals that have brought us together in this beautiful Olympic Village,” Rogge said. “The 11 victims of the Munich tragedy believed in that vision.

“They came to Munich in the spirit of peace and solidarity. We owe it to them to keep the spirit alive and to remember them.”

Rogge bowed his head as a crowd of about 100 people – IOC executive board members, dignitaries and Olympic athletes and officials – stood in silence for a minute.

“As the events of 40 years ago remind us, sport is not immune from and cannot cure all the ills of the world,” Rogge said.

“100 people”?!? … When I recall, as a kid, sitting with the rest of the world stunned for hours in front of a TV watching the devastating attack unfold, and then being informed that the members of the Israeli team had been killed, and that Jewish American swimmer Mark Spitz, who had become platinum gold in those games, was under tight security for fear an attempt on him might be in the wings.

The Fog of Political Battle – Updated With Video

With Mitt Romney traveling abroad Team Obama find themselves re-writing Obama History. By the way, ever notice these people refer to in-their-face facts and truth as “fog”?

London Fog: Just the other day there was the remark Romney made in London regarding the bust of hero Winston Churchill. It had been on display since shortly after 9/11 when Pres. George W. Bush had happily accepted the statue from ally and friend Great Britain. You will recall as soon as Obama moved into the Oval Office he had the bust removed, boxed-up, and then sent to the British Embassy. Obama was told by the Brits he could keep Winston, but Obama said no thanks, and the Brits took it home. (Obama’s disdain for the English goes way back…) Well, after Romney’s comment while in England, that he will eagerly accept the return of the Churchill bust once he moves into the Oval Office, the Obama White House was quick to insist on its website the Winston Churchill bust had never been returned to the British, and this was some sort of rumor

Lately, there’s been a rumor swirling around about the current location of the bust of Winston Churchill. Some have claimed that President Obama removed the bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office and sent it back to the British Embassy.

Now, normally we wouldn’t address a rumor that’s so patently false, but just this morning the Washington Post’s Charles Krauthammer repeated this ridiculous claim in his column. He said President Obama “started his Presidency by returning to the British Embassy the bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office.”

This is 100% false. The bust still in the White House. In the Residence. Outside the Treaty Room.

However, in February 2009 the British media covered the Obama rejection of the artwork…

A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government’s art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.

The bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein, worth hundreds of thousands of pounds if it were ever sold on the open market, enjoyed pride of place in the Oval Office during President Bush’s tenure.

But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: “Thanks, but no thanks.”

Diplomats were at first reluctant to discuss the whereabouts of the Churchill bronze, after its ejection from the seat of American power. But the British Embassy in Washington has now confirmed that it sits in the palatial residence of ambassador Sir Nigel Sheinwald, just down the road from Vice President Joe Biden’s official residence. It is not clear whether the ambassador plans to keep it in Washington or send it back to London.

Uh oh-h-h-h! This might just be one of the key reasons this administration is so hot and heavy to have control of the internet. A simple “google” debunks their “debunking” … The boobs in the Obama White House then had to tweak things a bit as a tale of two busts … knowing full well which Churchill bust Romney was talking about in his statement.

The one that was loaned to the George W. Bush administration in 2001 was returned after Bush left office and now resides at the British ambassador’s residence in Washington.

A second bust, which is part of the White House’s own art collection, is displayed in the White House. It is that bust which Obama is pictured looking at with Cameron in 2010.

Foggy, indeed.

HT: Weasel Zippers, BTW

Which brings me to Israel. Mitt Romney’s trip across the Atlantic takes him to Great Britain, Israel, and Poland. Somebody seriously needs to sit down Nancy Pelosi and get her attention, scatter-brained as she is, and advise her to actually know what the facts are before she opens her yap. In four years Obama has given no more than lip-service to Israel while making several trips to Muslim countries. Nancy is now trying to insist he has … not once, but “Over and Over Again”

“You are Going to Ignore This Particular Problem Until It Swims Up and Bites You In The Ass”

Right now Rep. Michelle Bachmann is having a heated back and forth with Rep. Keith Ellison over CAIR and The Muslim Brotherhood in the United States. Right now it’s pages and pages of letters being exchanged, with Ellison painting Bachmann as a nut.

The FBI is reporting it was too concerned about political correctness and did not investigate Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, who would later carry out a murderous terror attack on Ft. Hood military installation in Texas. The FBI failed the American people.

I think it’s time for members of Congress, serious about the threat to this nation, to stand up on the floor of Congress and start blasting the dangerous way this government and its agencies that are supposed to be protecting the American citizens from enemies foreign and domestic are doing nothing but appeasing their every whim, and should this country again be attacked the blood will be on all of their hands.

Information is coming out about yesterday’s suicide bomber in Bulgaria on a bus filled with Israeli vacationers, mostly teenagers…

He was a Swedish citizen with a history of Muslim extremist activities that had been turned over to the Swedish authorities in 2004 after being released from US custody in Gitmo.

Ghezali has a Wikipedia page, which describes him as a Swedish citizen, with Algerian and Finnish origins. He had been held at the US’s Guantanamo Bay detainment camp on Cuba from 2002 to 2004, having previously studied at a Muslim religious school and mosque in Britain, and traveled to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, it says.

Following a lobbying effort by Swedish prime minister Göran Persson, Guantanamo authorities recommended Ghezali be transferred to another country for continued detainment, and he was handed over to Swedish authorities in 2004. The Swedish government did not press charges.

He was also reportedly among 12 foreigners captured trying to cross into Afghanistan in 2009.

And obviously released. He was also carrying a fake Michigan driver’s license.

Obama’s “Triple Play” Chutzpah

Nothing like a Friday news dump: “Obama Blows Off Congress, Funds Palestinians, Lies About PA Stance on Israel”

Andrew McCarthy of National Review Online is reporting (and calling it a “Triple Play”), via the foreign press because our American news organizations are either disinterested or busy expressing its own anti-Israel bias, that Obama has, once again, defied the U.S. Congress and waived its Palestinian Accountability Act in order to hand the PA $192 million.

A spokesman for the White House, Tommy Vietor, says:

… President Obama made the decision to pour American taxpayer dollars into Palestinian coffers in order to ensure “the continued viability of the moderate PA government.” He added the claim that, as the report puts it, “the PA had fulfilled all its major obligations, such as recognizing Israel’s right to exist, renouncing violence and accepting the Road Map for Peace.”

I seem to have missed that. I mean, with all the Western MSM’s eagerness to paint the Palestinians in a grand light, and Israel as the evil one, you would think the PA’s “recognizing Israel’s right to exist, renouncing violence and accepting the Road Map for Peace” would quickly and loudly replace the media’s concerns over the Romney family’s roof surfing dog many moons ago.

McCarthy continues:

In sum, everything Obama is saying about Palestinian compliance is a lie. Even if we were not broke, we should not be giving the PA a dime. To borrow money so we can give it to them is truly nuts.

Will Congress do anything about it? There is a very simple answer to this: slash the executive branch’s budget. That is the weapon the framers gave Congress to rein in a corrupt, spendaholic executive branch. You could start with a treble damages rule: Obama gives $192 million to the PA against Congress’s directive, Congress responds by slashing $600 million out of the State Department’s budget. That would be start — though State would still have $51 billion left over to fund the Muslim Brotherhood and its other favorite Islamic supremacists.

Here is just a bit of what our U.S. tax dollars funds in “Palestine”. Just an example of the Palestinians teaching their children the “recognizing Israel’s right to exist, renouncing violence and accepting the Road Map for Peace” Obama claims has been reached.

CNN the Castro-Crescent News Network

Frankly, the alliance of the communist left and radical Islam gives me nightmares. I first became aware of this frightening trend years ago when my husband and  I noticed a definite anti-Israel bias in LA Times articles on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.   Always, always, these biased articles were penned by liberals, supposedly the tolerant, peace loving defenders of human rights. What do jihadists and the left have in common? Hatred of Judeo-Christian civilization, and an agenda for power,  their prime targets being the United States and Israel, who stand as twin pillars of freedom and democracy, entrusted as protectors of mankind’s inalienable rights, granted only by God.

Remember, just months before the terrorist attacks of 9-11, in May 2001, Fidel Castro told a cheering crowd of Muslim students at the University of Tehran, “Together we will bring America to its knees,”  he wasn’t joking.   The war following the attacks provided a perfect opportunity for this enemy to go on the offense.  With ally Obama in the White House, their operations became overt, the so-called Arab Spring, and the rise of Muslim Brotherhood their first victory. Who carries the saber for these destructive radicals bent on war and destruction?  The left dominated and Soros funded MSM, thats who.   CNN, long dubbed the Castro News Network, can now also be called the Crescent News Network.

Breaking News: CNN Israel fired all Jewish Journalists

The media scandal that you are about to read was revealed to us by a totally reliable source.

It is likely to provoke a wave of shock and indignation within the North American media industry, and it certainly will not calm down the controversy over the pro-palestinian CNN treatment of the conflict.

We learned today that the Israeli branch of CNN, located in Jerusalem, is downsizing to cope with reduced income from less advertising.

What goes beyond good management is that CNN has fired four Israeli Jewish journalists (out of a crew of 8), and has retained only Arab journalists. Where, until now, CNN always sent a Jewish and an Arab journalist to cover information, now there will be only an Arab journalist. The local chief editor of the News Chanel is now Arabic.

This is a conflict where information is central to public opinion, and it weighs a lot on diplomatic decisions. Furthermore, it is no secret that Arab journalists cannot freely publish what they want without risking for their own lives when traveling to Gaza, East Jerusalem, and Judea Samaria. Thus, CNN decision to fire all Jewish journalists from its Jerusalem office is of particular concern, because the general public is unaware that they will be receiving biased information.

Update at 8:30 PST: we just received the names of the four journalists that were fired:

Moshe Cohen, editor, fired on january 30, 10 years with CNN.

Izi Landberg, Producer, about 25 years with CNN, fired on January 30.

Avi Kaner cameraman fired on january 30, 10 years with CNN.

Michal Zippori desk producer, situation still unclear.

Bibi rejects the New York Times

In the spirit of the season, a very Happy Hanukkah gift from Bibi Netanyahu.  It’s a thorough dressing down of the unethical rag–enjoy!

Bibi Rejects the New York Times
by Ron Dermer, Senior Advisor to the Israeli Prime Minister

Why Netanyahu refuses to publish an op-ed in the so-called “newspaper of record.”

Ron Dermer is a senior advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The following letter was written to the editorial board of the New York Times.

I received your email requesting that Prime Minister Netanyahu submit an op-ed to the New York Times. Unfortunately, we must respectfully decline.

On matters relating to Israel, the op-ed page of the “paper of record” has failed to heed the late Senator Moynihan’s admonition that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that no one is entitled to their own facts.

A case in point was your decision last May to publish the following bit of historical revision by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas:

It is important to note that the last time the question of Palestinian statehood took center stage at the General Assembly, the question posed to the international community was whether our homeland should be partitioned into two states. In November 1947, the General Assembly made its recommendation and answered in the affirmative. Shortly thereafter, Zionist forces expelled Palestinian Arabs to ensure a decisive Jewish majority in the future state of Israel, and Arab armies intervened. War and further expulsions ensued.

This paragraph effectively turns on its head an event within living memory in which the Palestinians rejected the UN partition plan accepted by the Jews and then joined five Arab states in launching a war to annihilate the embryonic Jewish state. It should not have made it past the most rudimentary fact-checking.

The Times consistently ignores the steps Israel has taken to advance peace.

The opinions of some of your regular columnists regarding Israel are well known. They consistently distort the positions of our government and ignore the steps it has taken to advance peace. They cavalierly defame our country by suggesting that marginal phenomena condemned by Prime Minister Netanyahu and virtually every Israeli official somehow reflects government policy or Israeli society as a whole. Worse, one columnist even stooped to suggesting that the strong expressions of support for Prime Minister Netanyahu during his speech this year to Congress was “bought and paid for by the Israel lobby” rather than a reflection of the broad support for Israel among the American people.

Yet instead of trying to balance these views with a different opinion, it would seem as if the surest way to get an op-ed published in the New York Times these days, no matter how obscure the writer or the viewpoint, is to attack Israel.

Even so, the recent piece on “Pinkwashing,” in which Israel is vilified for having the temerity to champion its record on gay-rights, set a new bar that will be hard for you to lower in the future.

Not to be accused of cherry-picking to prove a point, I discovered that during the last three months (September through November) you published 20 op-eds about Israel in the New York Times and International Herald Tribune. After dividing the op-eds into two categories, “positive” and “negative,” with “negative” meaning an attack against the State of Israel or the policies of its democratically elected government, I found that 19 out of 20 columns were “negative.”

The only “positive” piece was penned by Richard Goldstone (of the infamous Goldstone Report), in which he defended Israel against the slanderous charge of Apartheid.

Yet your decision to publish that op-ed came a few months after your paper reportedly rejected Goldstone’s previous submission. In that earlier piece, which was ultimately published in the Washington Post, the man who was quoted the world over for alleging that Israel had committed war crimes in Gaza, fundamentally changed his position. According to the New York Times op-ed page, that was apparently news unfit to print.

Your refusal to publish “positive” pieces about Israel apparently does not stem from a shortage of supply. It was brought to my attention that the Majority Leader and Minority Whip of the U.S. House of Representatives jointly submitted an op-ed to your paper in September opposing the Palestinian action at the United Nations and supporting the call of both Israel and the Obama administration for direct negotiations without preconditions. In an age of intense partisanship, one would have thought that strong bipartisan support for Israel on such a timely issue would have made your cut.

So with all due respect to your prestigious paper, you will forgive us for declining your offer. We wouldn’t want to be seen as “Bibiwashing” the op-ed page of the New York Times.

The Arrogant Amateur: “I try not to pat myself too much on the back…”

Hope it doesn’t hurt his golf swing straining his arm like that…

It is really hard to see, after the last three years, why Obama’s approval with Jews is on the rise in, of all places, Israel. He has willingly supported the sham the “Arab Spring” that has removed despots in countries that were either contained or intentionally peaceful with Israel, while practicing some imbecilic version of tough love with Israel. Those now gaining power, and heading for strong leadership/rule, in Egypt (and other countries in close proximity) are announcing Sharia Law (which is as opposite of democracy as cats are of mice) while constantly voicing their not too distant future agenda as the complete annihilation and end of Israel and the Jews as pretty much their only foreign policy. The Obama administration has praised this play-acting at democracy as the people of Egypt are closer to voting themselves out of the system of government before it even takes a firm foothold in the country. With all the Arab/Muslim regimes/governments/leaders that have fallen in less than a year the Obama administration hopes to cram feathers into its cap as success in the Middle East for his re-election bid. Forget that these governments are closer to being manned by radical fundamental Islamists that fully believe they are carrying out the caliphate. And Israel, the only true democracy in the region, continues to be in their way. For the last three years Obama has continually insulted and disrespected our lifelong ally Israel. Yet, last week while pandering to American Jews at a fundraiser he had the unmitigated audacity to proclaim:

“I try not to pat myself too much on the back, but this administration has done more for the security of the state of Israel than any previous administration,” Obama said. “We don’t compromise when it comes to Israel’s security … and that will continue.”

The president was speaking to campaign donors at the Manhattan home of Jack Rosen, chairman of the American Jewish Congress, who said “it would be remiss for me not to say there are many in the Jewish community who are concerned” about the relationship between Israel and the United States.

Rosen added, however, that “America has never been as supportive of the state of Israel as President Obama and his administration.”

But Charles Krauthammer has a differing view on Obama’s record with Israel:

Of course, with an all important re-election coming up in less than a year it is just as important for American leftist/liberal Jews (my Jewish friend Evan Sayet calls them JINOs) as it is for Obama to try and rewrite the Obama/Israel history of the last three years in order to collect Jewish campaign dollars, and then Jewish votes. Well, he does have less than a year to build the last pillar of his Middle East legacy … A “peace agreement” that involves Israel making all the sacrifices to the point of impaling itself on the Middle East’s sword.

So how does Obama continue to insist he has been evenhanded and understanding in his handling of the Middle East when two of his prime representatives (and a fundraiser) make such disparaging remarks about Israel, as they have most recently?
